Hyuandai is one of the most vulnerable foreign car makers in China as Chinese automakers dominate EV sector.

Hyundai mostly produce and sale ICEs in China, and their ICE market share is being taken by Chinese ICEs.

When people go for an affordable car, they used to look at Hyundai and Kia, but now they are turning to BYD, Chery, Geely, Changan, etc.

If you have more to spend, you can go for BYD as well. U8 and U9 both look VERY appealing.

It would be in Chinese interest to try to seek out close partnership / JVs with Hyundai and major SK companies in technology and industry in general.

Increase reliance on Chinese tech, to achieve a position where all major EV automakers will have a dependency on China for certain key technologies. And SK is most promising country to flip into a Chinese tech/industrial ecosystem overall.
South Korean relies on the US market and the US will not let South Korean cars with Chinese components in. Don’t need to help the South Koreans in other markets.
