Are there any Vietnamese friend that could give us some real Vinfast data here? I think it’s not really fair to criticize the company for doing bad in the US , that’s a relatively more competitive market after all,I’ve seen some traveling vlogs in Vietnam, there are quite some Vinfast cars in Vietnam, it seems that they are doing great at home.
Maybe it’s a personal thing but I tend not to criticize Vietnamese for them being so far the most practical people in the SEA.

Do Chinese companies, that are involved in strategic areas as viewed by China's rivals employ geopolitical strategists? Or do RISK ANALYSIS before venturing out on establishing businesses that may or may not be taken over by the respective countries they willingly chose to do business with?

Or are Chinese businesses like BYD either operate on an assumption of naiveté combined with hubris which is why they tend to ignore the geopolitical tensions happening around them leaving the Chinese government to pick up the tab and pieces to protect these I don't know what to call group of moneyed people who's primary interest is to making $$ damn the risks.

Nearly 12.000 ev for 2023. It quite good. But if digging deeper you will see it somewhat obvious how they got those results. The Vinfast basically only EV brand in Vietnam. Vingroup is big corporations with well established connection with GOV. So they have a bunch of tools and money to leverage. They have full support of GOV to install charging spot all around Vietnam. They have huge reputation( hate or like) so lot of people know about Vinfast. And because Vingroup have tons of brand so those brands can support eachother. Like when you buy house in Vinhomes you have voucher for buy Vinfast car. Have free parking fee and electric charging fee for 2 years if you parking Vinfast car in Vinhomes area. And one thing( unconfirmed) but every decent size online forum in Vietnam( about cars, computer, electric device or whatever) will have GOV enforce strictly censor and monitor any thread and discuss, complaint about Vinfast and those car. Which means any good things about Vinfast is allowed to stay and any negative things will quickly delete.

If Vinfast sells well in the US, that would be mean they taking market share from Japanese gasoline cars and also tesla. This is good news for Chinese car manufacturers, which are displacing Japan cars rapidly in China, SE Asia and Australia.

I think the poor sales of the cars may also have to do with reviews of their cars in the US, there's basically no positive reviews of the VF8, with issues ranging from excessive chiming, pedal lag (1-2 second) up to deadly ones like lane keep assist not allowing you to switch lanes unless you signal (deadly in a accident). While majority of those issues should be fixed via software,, once a bad reputation sticks it will take years to remove, especially for the new kid on the block.

Which reviews? Didn't even know there was a Vietnamese car being reviewed lol.

Also something to keep in mind, American reviewers tend to be car enthusiasts who naturally focus on things like driving dynamics and responsiveness, which are not necessarily the most important traits in a vehicle that's designed for hauling, commuting, or otherwise, given a certain budget.

If you commute in an SUV you are doing something wrong...

This might be anecdotal at best but I see alot of Lynk&Co and NIO cars, not only in Hamburg but also in North-Rhine Westphalia on the border to the Netherlands and there also quite some polestars.

I've seen them more frequently in total than teslas in last few weeks.
