Chinese researchers have won the Best Paper Award for a revolutionary paper on planning-oriented autonomous driving at the Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Conference (CVPR). CVPR selected 12 candidates for the honor of Best Paper from more than 9,000 papers this year..

They probably shouldn’t accept in person. Might get abducted or killed in a “car accident”.

Commies, Stolen tech, forced labor. Same old same old. I have a feeling even if cooperation between the US and China in EV would beneficial more to the US than China, these politicians would derail it anyway.

Lawmakers show no sign of letting up their pressure over the Ford-CATL deal and other partnerships — a stance that’s angered China and contributed to strains.

The four US lawmakers — Republicans Mike Gallagher and John Moolenaar, and Democrats Raja Krishnamoorthi and Haley Stevens — are expected to argue that CATL is closely tied to the Chinese Communist Party and has received Chinese government subsidies that allow it to undercut US firms, according to the person. The person asked not to be identified discussing private deliberations.

They are also expected to express concerns about CATL technology they believe was acquired from US educational institutions and companies and will press companies on whether they are sourcing parts for their cars using Uyghur forced labor in Xinjiang province.
I don't understand why Chinese companies don't just let the US market be for now. They are not wanted there except those like BYD who have already been present in less sensitive sectors like school buses, commercial buses etc.
CATL should forget about the US and focus on other countries in the world where there is less hostility towards business from.China.

Abu Dhabi investing into NIO and Tencent.

This is going to be interesting. More continued investment from Arab countries into China's new energy sector. Should keep NIO viable for a while
Stupid decision. From what I heard, NIO is doomed to fail, so don't understand why they are investing their money in them, instead of other more promising Chinese EV companies like BYD, Li Auto etc
Tencent doesn't seem to be a bad choice by contrast.

Abu Dhabi probably bought Nio shares from tencent's holdings. Nio has high probability to be successful. BYD and Li Auto will not sell new shares, because they don't need to. Why dilute your earnings with more shares?

The Electric Viking debunks Serpentza's video. All the vehicles in the video are gasoline powered. Yup, gas powered. Not even plug in hybrids, not even hybrids, not even mild hybrids. Gas powered cars are not selling in China, resulting in ICE cars rotting.

Youtubers are being paid by conservative groups to perpetuate their narrative. You see it on fanboy channels that attack Hollywood. That's what they do these days. Now they're putting money into production value to make them look professional. I suspect Peter Zeihan is also among the ranks. They have him doing videos from places around the world to convey he must rich therefore must be right or he wouldn't have money to travel the globe. What does Zeihan do? Does he have his own theories? No he's perpetuating narratives that have been put out there for years. He doesn't even do any homework because he gets basic information incorrect that he basis his conclusions from. I recently visited an anti China channel and funny about the comments where the vast majority were anti-China were all different "@" internet addresses. Or look at Vinfast... How did a no name company get so much attention especially on YouTube where YouTube celebrities were raving about the car? It's because Vinfast paid for it.

Why doesn't Nio or BYD pay them for some advertisement?
