I'm glad that NIO is swallowing their pride and cutting prices to be more competitive. They have little choice but to expand their customer base to ensure their NIO houses and swap stations, which they spent a lot of money building and maintaining, won't sit empty because there's only a handful of elite NIO car owners in the world.
wouldn’t change a thing, the company is deeply fucked ,so is XPeng, there’s a channel called “一冉一刻” on bilibili, in which contains a former NIO PR and a former NIO product manager(of ES7), one of them is a ideology repeater and the other one is a brainless petrol head. Almost every estimation they made were wrong, and they know absolutely nothing about the reality of the market despite traveling around the world all day.
A company full of retards doesn’t tend to last.

NIO doesn’t really understand what the word “high end ” means, they pretend to know but all they did was giving the voice AI a name and a face; using all the “eco friendly ” materials European love but wouldn’t pay for; raising the price to BBA level and giving customers a Tesla interior ;making 100models which are exactly the same except size with absolutely no unique characteristics .
And above all, battery swapping doesn’t make any sense in passenger vehicles, they couldn’t make money from it, this business model doesn’t work and is ultra retarded from the beginning , now all NIO cars are heavier&more expensive&having less head room, all that sacrifices for nothing at all, this company is doomed.

I wonder if it would be a good idea for BYD to just scrap their expansion plans for the Ocean series and turn it into a young/small car focused sub-brand, kind of like Toyota's Daihatsu

Eg just take the current Seagull + Dolphin + E2 and make sedan versions of them. Small sedans won't sell well in China but is exactly the type of car that southeast asia likes, and exactly what is lacking from current BYD lineup.

Seems like the larger Ocean cars are not selling well because the series is not positioned well. Larger sea animal EVs like Seal are too youthful for their high price. While the warship DMI models just seem like rebadged dynasty dmi models with even less character. There just doesn't seem to be a need for the larger Ocean models.

tesla is charging BBA prices, but using subpar materials, while claiming to be minimalistic. Nio designs are way more stylish with better
materials than tesla.

yeah, Qilin battery is pretty good. I think we are at the point where you don't really need longer range for PVs anymore. Newer batteries will be developed more for trucks, long range buses, shipping & aircraft.

Long term, I still see higher density LFP battery reaching high enough density for even the most demanding PVs
