CATL to offer battery swap for heavy trucks. we'd still need swap stations for something like this to be more viable, but since trucks have major refueling stations on highways, you may not need as many swap station
Dangerous too.I would be fine with Tesla gaining market share if they didn't have all these idiotic anti-human features.
That's my biggest problem with these techy EV companies. They're negatively influencing traditional automakers to throw away decades of ergonomic design improvements in the name of modernity and sleekness.
Normal instrument cluster, normal gearshifter, normal ac vents, button controls are simply the most intuitive and easy to use. It's nice to be able to get in a car and drive normally without having to relearn things.
But these manufacturers are like nah, here's a screen and some weird gear shifter, and you need 30 minutes to learn how to navigate the UI to adjust things. Oh, and it differs from car to car so you have to relearn it everytime.
Exactly. Ford and GM did studies decades ago when they were experimenting with touchscreens and digital interfaces proving that such setups very significantly increased distractions for drivers and frequency of crashes. The driver should be able to identify each unique knob by touch so they never need to remove their eyes from the road.Having the dashboard in the middle is a dangerous distraction. Old X-Trail models used to have them. Besides having to look side way and moving your head to read or setting the dashboard, it is very inconvenient for right-hand drive drivers. Maybe ok for left-hand drive cars such as those in China and US. One reason they put it in the middle is because they can make both left and right-hand drive cars with less modifications.
Dangerous too.

That's the reason Saudi Arabia and many other countries are willing to accept yuan. They can actually use RBM/CNY to acquire all kinds of technologies, business opportunities, and tangible goods from China.Human Horizons and Saudi Arabia's investment ministry formed a joint venture for $5.6 billion to conduct automotive research, development, manufacturing and sales. Major Chinese EV companies have all turned their focus to different region as domestic competition has become so fierce.
Chinese EV startup Li Auto announced at the 20th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition in April that its new model will be the first powered by CATL’s 4C Qilin battery, which can charge in 10 minutes for a range of 400 km.
You mentioned earlier that you want BYD and CATL to build factories in Western Europe. Maybe I ask why? In my opinion, it's dangerous to invest so much money into countries that might confiscate that capital equipment if United States asks them to.CATL to build new factory in Thailand
And as posted in other threads. HiPhi building major plant in Saudi Arabia for $5.6B

Last I checked, Hungary is in Europe. I think you're being unnecessarily rude to HighGround. His point about geopolitical risk is correct. Problem is that there are few countries that are resistant to US pressure in Europe and Hungary is a standout. I suspect France might be another.if you want to sell in Europe, you need to build factories in Europe. Why is it so hard to understand?
Not really. People are too crazy about this worries of confiscation. Hungary has no pull in EU. If you think Chinese automakers can build all their factories in Hungary and be good to go, you are sorely mistaken.Last I checked, Hungary is in Europe.
