Volkswagen aspires to be the biggest international carmaker in China, he said, adding that it's irrelevant if another national manufacturer sells more than it does.

VW has been the top-selling group for 30 years. BYD has passed them in sales so far this year. I interpret this quote as VW essentially "throwing in the towel". They will accept fewer sales, try to keep margins high and seem resigned to the fact that they won't get back to the top any time soon.

I guess this is better than Ford's retreat from most of the market, but given how poorly VW-SAIC JVs are doing with factories standing at low capacity, it's inevitable.

VW should focus its research efforts on developing cars powered by cope. Cope is a resource they have an infinitude of.

For the people who know the market in China, why do people even want Teslas? I’ve driven them before and quite frankly its a bit of a gimmick to me.

Quality is variable due to shit QC. The actual car itself probably has the best range and handling, but the value proposition is crap. I’d rather wait for better prices or better made vehicles.

The new steering wheel is quite frankly weird. The lack of physical controls is a downside… I mean, it’s an interesting vehicle and I understand why many of my fellow middle class Americans are obsessed with it, but why would this fad have traction in China?

Y’all are spoiled for choice and Tesla still sells as well as it does?
You probably drove a made-in-America Tesla. I heard Teslas from Shanghai Giga have far better quality. Also as far as EVs go Tesla are still considered amongst the best of the bunch with no significant downsides (aside from unintended acceleration and control issues). On top of that Tesla is priced fairly competitively, especially compared to other foreign brands. And then you have the 思想钢印 of affinity for foreign brands which certain segments of Chinese population has together with Tesla's first mover advantage.

May Russian auto sales total is out
Lada remains #1 w/ 22k sales
Chery & Haval are 2nd/3rd both w/7k+ sales

it's really surprising to me just how small the Russian auto market is. Maybe the prices are still too high
I'm so thankful that GWM translated 初恋 into Jolion and 大狗 into Dargo for export. Otherwise I can't imagine 初恋 would be popular in the used car market with a name like that. And yes, cars are ridiculously expensive in Russia; for example a Chery Exeed VX (星途揽月) starts at $37,450 $64,362 USD in Russia as opposed to $27,195 in China.

EDIT: The car in question. I obtained the prices from their respective official sites to verify
