Elon noted a few years ago that 9/10 of "revolutionary new battery discoveries" were complete BS. The 1/10 was often just a mild improvement.

As usual, what happens under controlled lab environments is irrelevant. The only thing that counts is commercialisation and mass production. Until we have something available to customers - at a competitive price - then it should be treated as vaporware.
This, this, and this. If you hear about a breakthrough from CATL or BYD, treat it with cautious optimism. If you hear about a "breakthrough" from anyone else (especially if they're not a Chinese company), laugh it out of the room.

His company does not even lead in battery technology. They are just depending on Chinese battery technology, instead of his own 4680 batteries.

A very good year of auto exports for all Chinese brands. And it is just not EV but also ICE as exports to Central Asia, Middle East and Russia increases drastically.

ICE exports sound good, but they are not too sustainable. Unless a Chinese automaker (most likely Chery) decide to focus solely on export market, they need to design their cars around domestic demand. There is no domestic demand fro ICE cars in a couple of years.

Most other countries except EU and China simply won't have the infrastructure to go full EV even a decade from now. Maybe some Chinese companies can focus upon PHEVs or ICE such as SAIC, GMW, Geely and Chery. Transsion was thriving in African countries and many developing nations when other smartphones already moved to 4G and 5G.

I’ve watched a lot of documentaries about transportation in Africa and came to a conclusion: Any vehicle specifically designed for them, they couldn’t afford it since vehicles with great off-road capability were never cheap.

Will factories in China be allowed to manufacture cars that don't meet 6b emission standard after July 1 if they are solely for export?
