I know this is technically not a BEV... but it is a hybrid. Anyways, wow this vehicle beats the Jeep Wrangler in safety(3* vs 5*) and pricing! It's 20-30k AUD cheaper than it despite having some more better features! It's going to dominate the Australian market.

Problem is that gwm has very bad reputation in Australia for being very unreliable/cheap cars, it'll be hard to shake off that reputation.

Your name betrays your distrust. LOL. I'm often critical of the quality of MIC, but I believe EV is where the quality of MIC will start to change the world's opinion. So far, all the EV models, other than the minis, have scored 5 stars, including the cute Ora Funky Cat, when the Fiat 500 managed only 4. I'm sure the crumbly dashboards are a thing of the past.

It's not about "reputation." There's a segment of irredeemable Sinophobes who are going to badmouth Chinese companies no matter what, but they're just wastes of oxygen. GWM, BYD, et al. are going to take more and more market share from every other manufacturer - both fossil and NEV - simply because they put out superior products at lower prices and that's what consumers want.

That was really true about 10+ years ago. The last 5 years to now, they've really stepped up their game with newer, better models. I think the bad rep will go away within a few years.

It's not really a matter of sinophobia or whatever you guys think it is, gwm did made bottom of the barrel cars for export into Australia for quite a few years, replacing korean cars before them, it will take time to fix that reputation as the Koreans did, with time.

Even if the cars are good, it will take time for consumer sentiment to change. BYD is getting plenty of sales in Australia for example, even Haval, gwm's subsidiary in Australia is quite popular in the SUV segment.

Since when did I say their rep is due to sinophobia? I literally agreed with your statement.
