BYD has a new fab location in Yangzhou. They somehow continue to build factories in places I have never heard of, but are conveniently located for their car factories. It looks like this is just for power chip packaging and wafer production. They seem to have more semi factories (maybe not necessarily all for wafer production) than I previously thought (said 10+ factories) in that article.

Also, if you look below. They have repurposed one of Yanghzou's bus stations as a showroom for their dynasty series? Or maybe this will be also the location of their semi factory?

This is quite unbelievable. Honda Civic Hatchback is coming out with a new Type R model (sports car) at 420k RMB. This is after also coming out with regular Hatchback at 145.9k to 180k.

which prompted another Weibo post that I commented on here

Basically, Japanese automakers are out of their mind. They still think they have brand attraction in China with their ICE models. Their JV partners are cutting prices like crazy to get rid of their inventory. Their dealerships are going out of business. And Toyota still wants HEVs to be classified as NEVs.

Those hours are long but note that it is for people with only middle school education required and rent is paid, for a salary equal to GDP per capita.

Benchmark Mineral Intelligence predicts that China's global lithium ion battery capability market share will be 68% by 2031. For those who are curious, 8,000 GWh is enough for 80-120 million EVs a year. I don't think that many EVs will be produced globally by then, so a large portion of the 8,000 GWh will be used for ESS (energy storage system).

Currently, 91% of the world's battery used for the ESS is made in China.

CATL's German plant starts mass production.

According to this figure, SUV is becoming more popular in China. If that's true, then it's good news for China's domestic automakers, because China's domestic makers have a bigger market share in SUV, while joint ventures and foreign makers have a bigger market share in sedan.

Side note, a lot of normies always deflect renewable, batteries and EV with something like but muh mineral mining! Muh dirty energy! and so on.

Do they think ICE car grew on tree? Do they think oil and gas just magically appear on tanker?
No all of them require energy to make and extract and not so clean either.
