couple of more pieces of news

AI head of Li Auto has quit, not a great sign for Li Auto I'm afraid. People normally don't quit when things are going well.

So, the Tesla price cut is now triggering price cut in other places. AITO is the first to follow.

Here is what I discussed previously, but NEVs will really be exported to Europe via the China/Europe rail. This is a major part of China's export and NEV strategy

BYD is making progress in Brazil.
Looks like they just opened their 11th store in the country in Porto Alegre

The first BYD D1 police cars have arrived in Sao Paolo

And they have joined hands with Saga Group, the largest dealership in Brazil, to promote NEVs.

BYD has launched such electric vehicle (EV) models in Brazil, such as the Tang EV, the Han EV, and the D1. Presale of the Song PLUS DM-i kicked off in the country not long ago.
I think Song+ DM-i will be a major seller in Brazil and other global south countries. And I think they will end up locally producing in Brazil after some time. After all, they already have 3 factories in Brazil. And have worked extensively to increase local production there.

While they are having the current child seat issue, BYD continues their expansion in Australian market. They have now partnered up with Ampol for charging facilities

That seems like BYD's strategy. Working with existing service station operators like Shell and Ampol to install their charging infrastructure. Would be really stupid to rely on Tesla superchargers.

According to Chinese social media, BYD now has over 200k orders internationally (including the big 100k order from SIXT, but not any of the orders from Paris Motor show).

It is now selling Song+ EV in Uzbekistan for $45k. Yeah, these export sale prices are much higher than in China.

On cooperation front, it is continuing to have meetings with FAW. There are photos of those meetings from Jilin now. Also for the BYD/Toyota JV, sounds like they will develop BZ1, BZ2 and BZ5 for non-Chinese markets. These cooperations that start in China will eventually spread everywhere else. It's inevitable. That's why it's such a big deal for Toyota and VW to use BYD/Horizon Robotics supply chain in their Chinese models.

Yes, German automakers are going to rely on Chinese supply chain to be competitive. I've talked about this already. Tesla created an existential threat to them, because they are weak in software and smart computing technology.

This two picture should encapsulate all you need to know.

Chinese German delegation from FAW VW came to BYD to negotiate for DM-i technology on their plugin hybrid cars

btw, this is after Dongfeng Sokon and BAIC already using DM-i tech.

At least they are better than Toyota. Several years ago a Chinese student interning in Toyota leaked info that they were buying BYD cars, taking them apart, and trying to see how stuff worked together under the hood. He was selected for his Mandarin skills.
