They definitely have some big plans for India, looks like they'd be interested in a second plant if things go well. The Chennai plant can do 10k cars a year.

Reviews of BYD Atto 3 coming on YouTube from Indian car enthusiasts. Despite the geopolitical concerns, Indians seem to be quite excited about Atto 3.

This is why NIO and Xpeng frustrate me. It's good that they've decided to design their own chip, but XPeng is still somehow handling the design work to an American firm. These guys will never learn. There are perfectly great Chinese firms doing this and are sanction proof, yet they go for the most sanctionable option.

Outside of BYD, I'm not convinced any Chinese automakers can truly design it's own CPU/GPUs.

Zeekr 001 has now hit 50k in production, which is not bad for a pretty expensive car.
What do you make of the flying car from Xpeng?

They should be careful selling in India. Just look at how India treated xiaomi. It looks like the money you made in India, cannot leave India.
BYD should learn from xiaomi, why selling in India is not smart.

Update from BYD's Jinan factory. This is the one where BYD is thinking of having a second phase for combined production of 1 million car a year. Looks like production will start on Nov 30th. Not sure why they always start production on the last day of a month.

Back in end of February, BYD's Fudi unit signed contract with FAW for a 45 GWh battery factory. The construction work for factory has now started (10 days ago) and production of batteries will start in June. The first phase is 15 GWh. According to release, this will allow FAW to produce 600k cars a year. I believe this is to supply their HongQi branded car.

BYD Changzhou production has exceeded 30k a month. They are looked to push forward with phase 2 of the plant. Will allow production to at least double.

looks like Shenzhen port is looking for people to design on a RoRo dock to more easily ship BYD cars out for export.

BYD will start building its Nuro's 3rd generation unmanned delivery truck starting early 2023. It will be done at the Lancaster plant.

as discussed, VW and Horizon robotics will have a JV for smart driving. The idea that European automakers can separate themselves from Chinese supply chain is quite laughable and only advocated by neoliberal pundits.
