@AssassinsMace Sir let me summed it up this way in a school setting.

Cool kids - The Five eyes

Cool kids wanna be or retainers/ servants- EU, SK, Japan and India

the nerds- China

Rich kids (commodities) - Gulf state

outcast or delinquent- Russia, Iran, Venezuela and Turkey

Preys or plain kids - Africa, ASEAN and the rest of the Global South.

Everybody wanted to be a cool kid, its like a caste system, I don't know how school system works in other country BUT I experience both, an elite catholic school mimicking the western system and that of a Chinese school. I fought my way to be accepted and failed (kick out for fighting and for being poor) in the former and found enlightenment and how to become a better person on the latter. That is what the world needs a choice. Sir I may be deviating BUT you know what I meant you can't fool people cause a cool kid said so and the Nerd had become interesting because he develop something new...lol
It would also be interesting to follow what happens after they become adults:

Cool kids - The Five eyes - now HS dropouts working in carwash, fast food, hard labour or content creator on manyvids

Cool kids wanna be or retainers/ servants- EU, SK, Japan and India -
- EU: long term comatose and disablement after getting in a group fight between cool kids and delinquents before graduation
- SK: matured and saw the error in their ways, now gainfully employed
- Japan: tried to hang onto HS past, but old friends didn't get into university, and struggled to make new friends at university, now watching the world pass them by
- India: didn't graduate, still repeating year 10

the nerds- China - started own company and now billionaire

Rich kids (commodities) - Gulf state - runs business supplying materials to the billionaire's company and wants to find out how to become business partner

outcast or delinquent- Russia, Iran, Venezuela and Turkey - got jobs at billionaire's company and now senior / C-level executives. Turkey fired shortly afterwards for embezzlement

Preys or plain kids - Africa, ASEAN and the rest of the Global South. - now gainfully employed adults, occasionally get served by the cool kids at fast food chain or carwash

It is truly amazing to see China come from making bad rip-offs to being in the heights of innovation in the car industry. I was a pessimist because it seemed the Chinese car industry was just being a follower. Now prove me wrong on if I'll ever see a Chinese brand car being sold in the US. I'm a pessimist on that. It'll probably happen but I see how some American politicians will work to prevent that from happening. As Chinese work to make cars "smarter", the more the notorious suspects in the US will be paranoid. Even though Tesla started this, for some reason American politicians don't like Elon Musk. Then you add how big China has become in EVs, I know there are those in the US that don't like being a "follower" in trends and want something else where they can lead like how the Japanese tried to push hydrogen and not electric. That's why it was history being made when China became the largest car market in the world. Beyond the superficial of what that means, the bigger part is that it meant that the international car industry were going make cars according to Chinese tastes which meant Americans were no longer the trend-setters and they hate that. That's why overall it's so important for the US that everyone in the world embrace Western values because then they will always be dictating the direction of everything.
Hey, man, in my opinion, this is actually the trend of historical development. The competition brought about by Chinese cars is the competition between advanced productive forces and backward productive forces, and the competition between the large concentration of non-monopoly means of production and the decentralized monopoly means of production. In the past, Chinese cars had nothing. Now, relying on the huge Chinese market and resources, as well as farsighted governance, Chinese cars are upgrading rapidly(iteration)every moment, just like a magical chemical reaction.
In the next few years, if we are lucky enough, maybe we will witness the largest automobile electrification process in human history, and the automobile will be more information-based and intelligent! This is the progress of history and the positive progress of all mankind; The utilization rate of resources will be raised to a higher level, and automobile pollution will be replaced by batteries that are easier to recycle, and it will also be easier to deal with intensively. At that time, automobiles will become the living tools of more people. At that time, farmers, fishermen, workers and people of all positions and classes in the society can buy automobiles at a price that they can more afford. This will practically and substance improve our lives; The right to drive a car freely will no longer be the patent of the rich.

This is brilliant... description of Japan is dead on, they worship past glories like a religion.

Not anytime soon, but that's perfectly fine, because the U.S. market will not be nearly as large as the Chinese and European EV markets. China's EV makers should concentrate on the domestic and European markets first. According to the experience of legacy auto makers, Chinese EV makers probably have to manufacturer EVs in the U.S. in order to sell there.

BYD is probably the largest EV maker in the world now:

Everyone on that list is China except for Tesla.

I am not sure why the pessimism over Chinese brand in America. It will happen. Byd already has a pretty large operation here with buses. I just saw polestar about to deliver 60000 cars to hertz over the next few years. Nio confirmed again that they will export to America. The main issue is that they need to build factories here. Otherwise, there is the tariff to contend with.

Well, the right sort of analogy for China rivalry vs America and her lackeys is the movie titled "Mean Girls." To those who have watched and seen the movie a long time ago you'll know my metaphor ain't that far off from the actual reality.
