Re: new Chinese supertank,question....

I think the weaknees of PLA is "They don't have any war for 50 years" It means they don't have any experience of war Example: the tactics in many kind of wars. But for USA they pratice so hard & They've joined many war .They learnt many tactics and developed their tactics for each kind of war. You can compare it by Development of Weapons .

Sorry for poor English .
There certainly should be quotes there because the last official war was in the early eighties, the second Sino-Vietnamese boarder war. Currently, PAP contingents are serving in UN peacekeeping roles around the world and have seen combat.

Thank you for your friendly welcome.
Yes, it's a thread about the super tank. We can chat on the general military discussion room, or you can use my hotmail address ([email protected]).

I think that you have reason to say that education and experience is not enough to have a good army. There are many other points. But, still education and experience are among the most fundamental factors to make an army.
However, I disagree about your examples. The Japanese army was continually at war since the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-95, and even since the disastrous Taiwanese expedition of 1874. World War II started on 1941-42, after the Japanese attacks on Pearl Harbor and Malaysia-Singapore, but Japan was already at war in China since 1937 (and even since 1930-31). The 20's were calm for Japan, except the Siberian expedition, and before it Japan had participated to some minor operations during World War I. Then, in 1941-42, Japan was very familiar with the battlefields. Each Japanese generation, and often even each decade, had its war between 1868 and 1945. But, the paradoxe is that, in fact, at least since the 1930's the Japanese army was on the decline.
I will not go too much in details about each of your examples in this thread, because it's not the appropriate room. But, maybe we can chat sometime in another thread or room, or with my hotmail.

Ws-2d Mlrs

according to WMF,NORINCO is offering sensor fuse and RADAG version.
it is not specific what kind of seeker do the sensor fuse adapt,or possible connection to russia Bazalt, and RADAG use small radar for terminal homing to achieve pin point target and better accuracy.
the third one it's believe carried 3 RPV,at preprogrammed altitude the missile release 3 RPV inside the missile ,for jamming or search and destroy missiion, kindly like harpy.although the report said more information is needed.

Re: Ws-2d Mlrs

Deployed in sufficient numbers WS-2D seems to be an ultimate killer weapon against ROCA air defense since after a first wave strike with the ´big ones´ (DF-11A/DF-15A) the WS-2D with RADAG warhead keep continously coming in effectively completing the job. A comprehensive attack with 8-10 WS-2 for every one DF-11/15 (i.e. 8000-10000 WS-2 plus around 1000 DF-11/15) will probably degrade Taiwan´s air defense capabilties down to a 10% level within 12-18 hours.

@dear challenge: have you got better information?
How long is the range of this new WS-2 variant/derivative?

Some sources say around 200 km, others about up to 280 km. The latter number has to be achieved if the weapon should be effective against targets on Taiwan although a 350 km range seems to be rather a more optimal solution.

Have you some estimates about the CEP parameter of the new weapon?

A similar CEP like the DF-11/15A would obviously be desired by PLA´s rocketeers if WS-2D is employed in the role of an ´air defense killer´weapon.

Re: new 120mm guided mortal round

Is the project still in development or is it in testing? I suspect the seeker is related to the Chinese version of the Krasnopol seeker, which has been marketed for export. It would be interesting to see more precision artillery munitions based on this seeker. Perhaps even a top attack ATGM like Lahat.

Re: new 120mm guided mortal round

Giving the number of existing models worldwide and the fact that the PRC has got knowhow on guided artilleryshells of 152 and 122 mm caliber, it was just a matter of time before they would devellop their own terminally guided 120mm mortar round.
My personal idea is this round has been around for some time within their arsenal since it's a to important medium range armoured assult-breaker to neglect; especially after desert storm 1 and 2!
