As long as the screen writer isn't Damon Lindelof that leaves me with hope it'll be better than Prometheus, unless its Roberto Orci in which case it'll be far worse.

I was at Comic Con when Ridley Scott was there to promote Prometheus and he confirm that it was in the works. I don't know what's up because it's been a couple years and later this year Ridley Scott is going to start filmming the Prometheus sequel.

Add to this that Top Gun 2 is supposedly go again looks like all the old actors are trying to relive past glories I do not have high hopes
Finally caught it this past weekend, good movie! While the secret helicopter carriers and jet engined Ospreys are impressive I find it ironic that had the bad guys been in control of just the surveillance and armed drone network that exists in the real world today the heroes would have had a much harder time.

I can see Top Gun 2 where Maverick (Tom Cruise) has now became the school instructor and is fighting to maintain the importance of the school from being retired due to government decided to use drones instead, while taming a young hot shot pilot of his own (either his son or someone else).

been done. Frankly I just don't see it. Cruise is old, and insane, his last movies bombed. both literally and figuratively. The whole point of the movie is also gone. I mean really Top Gun Was Tomcat Porn. The only ones who have Tomcats are the Iranians. The last Fighter movies Were Stealth which barely made half it's budget in revenues even with Jessica Biel in a bikini... give me a moment...

I'm down with Stealth 2 or whatever number sequel it's at as long as now-Mrs. Timberlake (boo!) has a bikini scene in it! Her wingwoman can be Kate Upton, she looks like a Raptor jockey to me.
Kidding aside I do think we can use more real military hardware in Hollywood movies instead of overly fancy CG fakes which conceptually aren't that big a departure from reality (therefore also not much of an inspiration) anyways.

Top Gun used a lot of models during air combat scenes. And since the sequel is said to center around drones, they're going to have to use CGI because there are no real air superiority UCAVs that exist.
