Movies in General

Like I said I totally agree with what you guys said hence my prequalifier in my original post but again unlike the comic books where it's easier to immerse in just one single character, in a live action movie it's more difficult w/o thinking about others as well. The cross over and similarities is too hard to ignore. The stage for Winter Soldier has almost the same setup as Avengers minus the few other superheroes and main protagonist.

Just got outta the late showing of transcendence, Johnny Dep was good seeing how for the first time in his career he was not wearing 90lbs of makeup. Morgan Freedman looks to be playing the professor role this year as it looks like he will be playing the same character opposite Scarlet Johansson in Lucy later this year. Plot was cool. Kept you guessing as to if it was Human or Machine... And everyone had there sins.

There have been recent attempts on the Syfy channel of doing a Flash Gordon series or miniseries.

I barely remember it because it was so bad but the only thing they left from what is considered racially controversial from the original was the name Ming and the planet Mongo. Everything else was changed. Frankly I don't know why they would attempt to bring it back. Put aside the controversial, the story was simple. Maybe because they made a big deal about in the movie Ted...

I always here about someone attempting Logan's Run but that never surfaces. I've also read about Hollywood redoing Westworld and Space 1999 but not 1999.

Flash was a product of the times in which it was a active serial which was the 1930's. Ming was more or less plagarization of Fumanchu from English literature of just a few years before. As time went by and every incarnation has been attempts at changing Ming form a Blatant Raciest Stereotype into a more acceptable form. that was I think the Goal of the Aborted Scifi version Which went with a Definitive European Ming Closer in style to Germanic then Asian.
personally I loved Max von Sydow as Ming, Race has nothing to do with it in my veiw it's all about presence you have to fear Ming not relate to him. And Max brought that.
