Now I can't say I really like the story of the Transformers films, but I liked the cartoons when I was younger. The plentiful sequences with military hardware (though stylized massively to the point of propaganda), and the SFX are quite formidable (though Michael Bay still sucks).

In this third (and thankfully, last) installment they make reference back to the USA's glory days of the Cold War and the Apollo 11 mission (they land right next to a massive transformer spaceship -- wth?? you'd think with google moon and such we'd be able to see it...) There were also rumors of the story somehow containing a modern day space race between russia and the US (I'd like to see either country fork out the cash for it :D ), which just really shows how out of touch Michael Bay is... He's really digging the bottom of the barrel if that's the true plot.

The Transformers movies are just mindless SFX. It's got nothing on the cartoons. The new transformation sequences also suck compared to the cartoon sequences. Plus, there's no Dinobots!

It tickles me when people slam these action pictures. There's a lot of work that goes into the special effects of films..a lot.

True that the movies are mindless dribble..just pure nonsense but never-the-less entertaining....and the bottom line is that the producers of these films are interested in one thing..making money. And despite what anyone or any critic says about these films they are big time money makers..Big time.

Can I warn folks what movie NOT to watch? If so please please do NOT watch The Last Resort! I was attracted to the cover and also because it was on redBox which is a $1/day DVD rental kiosk.
It is one of the WORST movies I've even seen in my life. It's 1.20 min of my life I'll never get back! :(
I can honestly say I can probably make a better movie if given a pro grade camera and some cash for expenses!

You would be doing us all a favour by telling us what not to watch.I dont know where you are, but over here most folks wouldnt even bother bending over to pick up a dollar lying on the ground. When I rent a DVD I will watch the first 10mins, if it doesnt appeal then I stop.

Currently theres this TV series on called the "Event" I think, has anyone watched the series and tell me whats it about, I hate these movies that continully fast forward or go back in time

It's junk food, like McDonald's. Sure, you get some fries and a burger once in a while because it's the most convenient and cheapest thing to do at the moment, but that doesn't mean it's good food. McDonald's also make a lot of money, a LOT more than Michael Bay, but that still doesn't mean it's good food.

And so what if there's a lot of work that goes into the sfx? Doesn't mean I need to appreciate the effort if the movie itself sucks, and it certainly doesn't mean it's better than the original cartoons.

So, anybody watched Repo! The Genetic Opera?

It's definitely a different film, lots of singing, lots of dancing, lots of murder, lots of gore, it's, omg :D

^Pretty good movie, i liked it, and personally hope for a sequal.

If you like modern musical comedies you should also check out Reefer Madness, not as gory but much more comedic.

Got to say I'm pretty excited for the new Tron movie, mainly because the soundtrack is entirely made by Daft Punk
