Re: Movies in General/ Star Trek etc etc

Today we had a teacher only day at school and all my friends went to see Transformers (I didn't for some reason), and right now on msn and facebook are like "OMG transformers is freaking awesome".

Has anyone here seen it yet and have some opinions? I've read a couple of reviews and they all say it's a bit overdone.

The film will be released in the US today. My wife and I are planning on seeing it next week.

Transformers 2 is awesome. Lots of GM and US military advertising though.

I'm watching it tomorrow in IMAX which has extended actions scenes. It's been getting a lot of bad reviews. Amazingly the bad reviews all have one criticism in common and is starting some controversy in the US. As one of reviewers coined the term... Car Car Binks. Some are wondering how Steven Spielberg could attach his name to this movie knowing what his friend George Lucas went through. I'll see for myself tomorrow. I heard the last two hours is robots beating each other up.

A couple of friends say that the big wheelie robot making havoc on that motor way in the trailers is a big dissapointment :(
2.5 hours... At least it's value for money

Just came back from watching Transformers 2. I liked it better than the first one. The funny stuff was funny. There's the same problem I had with the first. When they battle in melee you couldn't tell one from another. But all in all better special effects than the first one. For brainless entertainment, it served its purpose. Probably going to be the biggest box office of the year.

Same here just got back, but I'm the complete opposite, I preferred the first one.. I wasnt able to keep track of all the transformers though. because some just appeared and disappeared, and i dont feel we really got to know all their background, even though they were minor parters.

Major hit. Maybe it can overtake Star Trek and Monsters and Aliens as the year's top movie. Transformers 2 made over $200 million world wide in just five days.

Actually it made $387 million worldwide. $201.2 million was domestic box office. Next week it will surpassed Star Trek. The movie UP is on track to surpass Star Trek too. The only competition that possibly can beat Transformers 2 in total box office this year is James Cameron's Avatar which is coming out in December. It's probably a long shot but Cameron is known for big box office too. Nobody predicted Tiatanic would be the number one movie of all time.
