So facts are somehow suddenly considered bullshit to you when it is convenient for your own person narrative? Yes, people like you do indeed disgust me. And nope, I do not need you to care.
I don't remember needing Gordon Chang to care either when I factually labelled him as disgusting. Don't paste gold on your face.
Nor were they British citizens. They are in fact 2nd class subjects of the British colonial empire who had temporary lease over HK after humiliating and destroying China in the Opium Wars, forcing China to sign unequal treaties and cutting itself apart.
Remember, dogs and Chinese cannot enter any important venues in HK. Oh, and by remember, I mean remember the history and the facts, not remember to be dogs.
Just pointing out your cluelessness.
Your low level of critical thinking is clear though, you still cannot refute that HK people were NOT PRC nationals and had no rights to enter into mainland China until much later. Even in the 80's when opening up of the PRC began and many HK people when to mainland to start businesses, Shenzhen SEZ had it's own internal border. That is how closed things were.
Your facts ARE irrelevant. You are basically going on about how important the discovery of atomic fission is, the contributions of Fermi, Bohr, Feynman etc. When the question is "How do you put together this Ikea chair?".
Did I defend the British occupation? Nope and strawman argument anyway. British were trash occupiers until they were threatened by the PRC sympathizers in the 60's. I saw those stupid British dependencies passports with my own eyes, holders have no rights to live other territories of the UK in clear writing. Just like they didn't have the right to live in PRC either (or ROC for that matter).
Absolutely irrelevant and nothing to do with the fact that HK is factually an integral part of China historically or in the present. Nor does it change the fact that in the period between the Qing Dynasty and the PRC government, HK was leased to the British after the Opium Wars and the unequal treaties that followed.
Trying to separate HK from China is wrong on every single level, and Olivia should be ashamed of herself. If you do not have any legitimate argument, you can don't reply.
Again, you can't even see past your own sense of self importance. You talk about your disgust for people, but here is a person who has definitely helped many Chinese people over the years, what have you done for your community?
You are actually the one without any legitimate argument (and most likely life experience in the matter). HK WAS separate from China during that time, your flowery rhetoric is just that, words, not reality. Do you think you could have crossed the border back then into either side telling the guards "LET ME THROUGH, HK WAS PART OF QING DYNASTY LANDS BEFORE UNEQUAL TREATIES!" and they won't think you are on opium? Most likely you would end up in 青山.
Another reality, today you can freely fly between Taipei and Beijing. In fact, hotels and tourist area shopkeepers on the island wish there were more flights. In the 70's and 80's, this was a pipe dream. Again, do you think you could fly a plane from one side to the other and tell them "HISTORY SAYS I CAN DO THIS!" back then? Maybe you like the feeling of HQ-2 or HAWK on your a-hole.
My friend who is Russian, once remarked to me, "I was born in the USSR, not Russia, it's a country that no longer exists". That is how facts work.
That is all from me.
