Chinese statement read as US will remove 10% "Fentanyl" tariffs AND continue to pause reciprocal for 1 year. China's tariff on US ag export is in response to fentanyl tariff. This is basically walking everything back to before April, and will see China having one of the lowest tariff among all US trading partners, including Canada lol

No, China will still be at about 48% tariffs, 27.5% from trumps first time plus 20% (was 30% with fentanyl tariff) added at the beginning of this year. Still the highest with exception of maybe India.

Nope, China would be at 48% if reciprocal tariff pause didn't continue, with reciprocal tariff pause and fentanyl tariff removal, China's tariff rate would sit at 27.5%, basically undoing all Trump 2.0 tariffs on China.

By the way, most retail goods aren't significantly impacted by tariffs because shipping costs far exceed both tariffs and the value of the goods. Some TikTok sellers I've come across have small items costing less than $0.20, yet they easily sell them in the US for over $3 each.

10% tariff reduction for a year of rare earth is I’m disappointed despite not having any expectations.

So for rare-earth climb down China only gets US to climb down from the 50% rule for 1 year. That sounds like China Chickening out. After firing the big RE gun, I thought China would get bigger concessions. But no. Now US gets 1 year to stockpile Rare Earths.
Too soon to make judgement. Wait a while to learn the true details of the trade talk after the sensationalism dies down.

If you guys keep on exaggerating the trade results based on limited information, you will be muted. This is not the first time you have claimed victory/defeat that ended up different just 1-2 weeks later when more information comes out.

So how are they gonna stop US stockpiling RE if the Oct 9 export control is to be paused?

Continuing the same policy as before. They are not part of Oct 9th but an older policy. FT article from 2 months ago.

China “is telling companies they cannot go out and build huge inventories in rare earths, or they will face shortages”, one of the people said.

The other person said Chinese authorities were deliberately limiting approved export volumes to prevent foreign stockpiling. “This will be a leverage point from now on,” they said.

It's not but it should at least try to prevent war. Notice how Americans and their European puppets say that no sides should change the "status quo by force in Taiwan" even though Taiwan is literally seen as part of China. China could at least use that type of language to push back a bit on blatant imperialist and extrajudicial killings
Do we want to stop them from these wars? Cruel as it is, the world is a cruel place and America getting mired in more conflicts reduces worldwide support for the US and wastes the resources it has to face China with. China first, not Venezuela or Palestine. They can be built up and paid for their suffering and sacrifices after Pax Sinica is here.

I am a bit disappointed. It looks like China is not yet ready to take on the US. After all Chinese economy is based on exports. As for Trump, the man is a reality TV clown who thrives on drama. This meeting is basically to solve a problem that he created for no reason.
The Chinese economy is 3/4th domestic consumption, 1/4th exports, and the exports kept rising despite exports to America drastically falling so the US really has no angle here. When a Superpower has overstayed his capability, lay him to rest gently; don't push him over violently so that his final kicks and thrashing shake the earth.
However by throwing the October 9 RE nuke, now whole West is going to speedrun the RE supply chain development

This was going to be inevitable ofc, but why awake them to this danger without actual huge benefit?
LOL The West can't speedrun shit; even if they try, it will be too slow to prevent China's comprehensive overtake, especially because rare earths aren't flowing freely now, at best, they can fight over a trickle. The benefit is to trip them up while China takes the final overtake dash.
Only thing I can think of is that a background deal was made that US is going to silently relax NVIDIA controls and/or relax ASML sanctions so that tmr in the negotiations with EU, China will demand them to drop ASML export controls in return for pausing RE export control for 1 year

That would be a big brain Go move tbh where it would allow US to save face and EU to be thrown under the bus lol
What do we want with Nvidia and ASML? Nvidia's not allowed to sell in China by Chinese decree. Do you want them to compete with our chips? I'm plenty happy with China's domestic lithography development speed such that I don't want to risk the momentum over the small possibility of anything to gain from letting ASML back to study from them.
So how are they gonna stop US stockpiling RE if the Oct 9 export control is to be paused?
Oct 9 is almost unenforceably strict. It extends to anything containing any trace amount of Chinese rare earth, every appliance, every electronic thing. The requirement to apply for a limited license with reason stated and amount matching was before Oct 9. Even past this, there is still quota management; if a company orders too much, just tell them no because it's beyond production capacity given global demand. There is no possible way China will let the US stockpile.

Only 41%? Come on, I think it should be over 60%. MIT is ahead of the curve with 47%. Give it time; it's going up every year.

It’s interesting how a lot of these types of channels have to mention the complaints they get for too much reporting on Chinese military developments. Yes, mommy has to hide from little Tommy the monster called, reality, haunting in their nightmares so they can continue thinking they’re the best little man in the world… oh yes you are… yes you are!

Does anyone know or think if China will pause the “0.1% Chinese REE” rule only for the US or for the whole world, too? It seems to be too generous of China to give everyone else a free pass for nothing.

It will really hurt the Eurocucks if they find out that their daddy did not even have them in mind when on the table with Xi.
