Any news on the TikTok saga?

Selling off 80% of US operation with license fees to ByteDance is kinda bad but not the worst deal. The problem is it sets a bad precedent not only for China but it will also set a bad precedent for other us/global tech/service firms. I think it would be a stupid deal if it was for the entire tik tok global operations though.

Tik Tok would rather shutdown in the US than be sold. After what happened to CK Hutchinson, Bytedance executives are not stupid enough to risk going to jail on national security charges.

Second batch of emergency humanitarian aid supplies by Chinese gov't arrives in Myanmar

YANGON, April 3 (Xinhua) -- The second batch of emergency humanitarian aid supplies dispatched by the Chinese government arrived at Yangon International Airport in Myanmar on Thursday.

The second batch of aid supplies includes 800 tents, 2,000 blankets, 3,000 boxes of biscuits, 2,000 boxes of mineral water and other urgently needed supplies. The supplies were transported to Yangon by a chartered flight from China.

The first batch of emergency humanitarian aid supplies dispatched by the Chinese government for earthquake disaster relief arrived in Myanmar on March 31.

Li Ming, spokesperson for China International Development Cooperation Agency, said that China is willing to continue providing assistance to the people in the disaster-stricken areas based on Myanmar's needs, supporting their efforts to overcome the disaster as soon as possible.

He expressed confidence that with the joint efforts of China and the international community, the people of Myanmar will surely be able to overcome the disaster and rebuild their homes at an early date.

Nobody is denying that a disparity exists between China and Taiwan. However the disparity between China and Taiwan is smaller than that between the US and Iran (at least in military terms). The former was never my argument.
And your argument was wrong. When challenged, you just repeated it. Iran is a huge and resilient country while Taiwan is a small island with a small population. That's the fundamental difference. Taiwan's air power advantage over Iran means nothing within minutes of the PLARF being unleashed.
Logistically-speaking, the US is much more advantageously positioned not only because of their sealift capability but also due to their stand-off weapons capability. They wouldn't need to worry about Iran targeting Diego Garcia because the latter is simply out of range. This of course wouldn't even apply in real life because the US isn't planning to launch a land invasion of Iran. My point is that a potential Iran operation would be much simpler and less risky (for the attacker) vis-a-vis a Taiwan operation.
That's because you're thinking defensively instead of offensively. The US is in a better defensive position because it is impossible for Iran to strike the US. But if you're worried about the little guy punching back, you are already on your back foot and occupied with shit that you shouldn't ever have to think about in an offensive operation with an overwhelming strength advantage. The best defense is a strong offense. The best block or parry is to waste no time blocking or parrying but keep punching your opponent in the face so he's all on defense and you've got nothing you need to block or parry. So anything that makes offense easier, even if it makes defense harder, is welcome. And that is why China's position to Taiwan is much stronger than America's to Iran.
Of course a Taiwan operation would need boots on the ground. This is a discussion for another thread, but a regime-change operation like a Taiwan scenario has a different endgame than "hit-the-reactor" situations like Iran (and historically Syria).
This is a take-over, not a regime change. And yeah, there would be boots on the ground after the initial massive strikes.
Again, the premise isn't that China doesn't have a military advantage over Taiwan. Iran's collection of ballistic missiles (many of which are older liquid-fueled variants), when pitted against standoff US airpower, presents much less of a threat compared to hundreds or thousands of Taiwanese supersonic or high-subsonic cruise missiles heading for targets only 100 km away.
Taiwan's missiles are no threat. If they dare fire them, we become much more aggressive with little care to collateral damage. But by the looks of it, most of them are wiped out in the initial strike and those that aren't are abandoned, scattered in hiding or surrendered.

Not sure if already posted but this is rich:

China's Xi Could End Russia War With One Phone Call: Stubb - Bloomberg "News"

China’s power over Russia is so great that President Xi Jinping could force an end to the war in Ukraine if he chose to do so, according to Finland's President Alexander Stubb. "One phone call from President Xi Jinping would solve this crisis,” Stubb said in an interview with Bloomberg's Kati Pohjanpalo in Helsinki. "If China is genuinely interested in harmonious relations between nation states, it cannot allow a country like Russia to drive an imperial, at the end of the day aggressive and colonial, war against a independent nation state."

Personal Opinion:

Stubbs is just another trans-atlanticist regime bot/polished liar that parrots official neocon/neolib talking points. He is not interested in offering an honest assessment of the situation.

1) His claim China was on the fence is a gross oversimplification.

China knew what the US and its vassals were up to in Ukraine since at least 2014. Yet knowing this, it never really supported the 2022 invasion of Ukraine.

2) His claim that "One call from Xi could stop the war" is a gross oversimplification.

Russia is not a vassal state unlike Finland that now has become a whore of the neocon/neolib/trans-atlanticist establishment in large part due to Stubb.
Finland is destined to become a vassal state even with migration. when demographic decline happens and technology become complex smaller countries have little choice but join bigger block which is EU and Nato for Finland. otherwise Finland decline will accelerate and empty space is easy to invade.

3) His claim that “Russia is waging an imperial, colonial war… China must uphold territorial integrity.” is pure projection

The U.S. and its vassal states have waged colonial-style wars and coups of aggression for decades: Iraq, Libya, Syria, Serbia, Ukraine.
The propaganda term “rules-based order” is used selectively to attack countries that are unwilling to bend the knee to the neocon/neolib/transatlanticist regime.
you dont read history.
US had the Gulf support. remember those socialist states like Syria/Iraq/Egypt/Yemen/Libya etc that were supported by Soviet/Yugoslavia against Gulf Monarchs. when Saudi King met US President in 1945 that was the day of accelerated liberation of Global South and keep them afloat. Lebanon and Syria were specifically mentioned to force out French. Those Gulf Monarchs have long institutional history and they are going back to rectify many things after MBS gained real power around 2018. This Witkoff who is Jewish from New York was sent by MBS to solve US-Russia problems.

4) His nonsense comment of "China would gain goodwill from the Global South…”

Much of the global majority sides more with China and Russia than with the neocon/neolib/trans-atlanticist regime and its absurd hypocrisy and lies.

Question: How can China, Russia and the rest of the true free world hope to deal with shameless liars like Stubb in any meaningful way ?
Stubb took Qatar airways for his last China visit and this the place Russia want him.
Russia is integrating Arabic Soft Power into its hard Power to solve various problems and this include dealing with Europe.

It would be best for China to be cautioned. People are talking like all these opportunities have opened for China because of US tariffs on allies. Four years from now all that can change with a new US administration. Just like how Canada says they're going to China to spite the US but at the same time pushing Trump to tariff China instead of Canada. Acting tough but begging for the US not to do it at the same time. You have countries of the EU saying similar things. You think they really want to change from Western dominance of the world to living with the greatest threat to it so fast?

China is at the point of advantage because China can exist without the US and the West. China has thrown into their faces what they claim can't be done and by itself. Because of that everyone else has to choose who to hitch their wagon to. The West with the US as their leader has been a sinking ship. Despite how the world has been changing not aligning with the Western world order, all of the US's allies have chosen to stay or jump onto that sinking ship. Only now they have to think about it when the US is throwing them off to save themselves.

That's why China shouldn't be giving an audience to anyone that thinks they can make demands when they're in the weaker position. Countries that think otherwise are too arrogant and will most likely turn on dime on who they're "loyal" to. They're the ones that have to do something of value before China considers anything from them not the other way around like they think.

Yeah it would be great hearing how all US allies are turning to China now for some deal. But again, how many of them will easily run back immediately to the US if the US opened that door? Those countries are better left drowning on their sinking ship. China didn't force them to make that choice. Their arrogance from the start is what made it.

Not really anything celebrate about because China is on a similar trajectory. Though it’s pretty funny that North Korea will probably win by simply outlasting its rival by doing nothing.
Just like China was the only country able to achieve zero-COVID, you will find China is the only country on earth with the political will, industrial power and meritocratic, rational cultural needed to achieve the level of abundance needed to lower time-cost of expectations and solve modern demographic problems.
