I have read this topic much in depth. if Gulf Monarchies had switched sides. this is not even a contest regardless of the system. Israel would have faced different kind of wars. Even today it is Arab wealth invested in West that is the protection.
It was not Soviet system alone but its interaction with Africa decades earlier that caused alot of internal damage because they didnot have understanding of how to apply that Soft Power for protection. when they removed Prigozhin they replaced him with Muslims to deal with Africa.

The best the USSR would have been able to do was to drag themselves for another decade more but their system was feeling too much strain, that's why it collapsed as quickly as it did. There's a reason China reversed course because it was heading down the same path.

you are deeply mistaken on your analysis may be you not read history. If Gulf Monarchies were with Soviets than Soviets would have used Afghans to finish off Iran. Soviet Airforce is not Iraqi airforce that Iran could survive. because this would be the first thing Gulf Monarchies demanded.
