So wait, not only can we do that gig where people buy 4090 in the west and then send it to China for 代购, once this tariff is in place you could bootleg 5090 across the border from Canada/Mexico into US for profit? 100% mark up for something the size of 5090 that's worth $2000+ USD is pretty tempting.

It also means reunification would actually decrease after-tax price of graphics cards in the US, since Trump hasn't actually put any new tariff on China yet.

That's a surprisingly calm take from Trump

I believe the bubble will hold for a while, since it takes more than a few pricks to deflate one. It might even last until end of next quarter, since GPUs are preordered.

And until then, you can bet Sam the super scammer and Elon will be spinning new AI narratives for investors to buy into. Financialized markets are hype not reality.

Sam has lost all credibility but Elon, as COO of USA, may have what it takes to bring NVIDIA (and by extension, half the pension funds in America), back from the brink.

I'm thinking big datacenters will actually still be important to AI, otherwise there would be no reason for Bytedance to be having Oracle build several mega-datacenters in Malaysia for them.
Maybe another possibility?

This is why trying to talk with westoids is a waste of time frequently.

They will literally act disingenuous, cherrypick stuff, use no context etc just to cope with the fact they were wrong about China.

And they're not even very strong in those beliefs. They said the same crap about black people being weak and then when they starts dominating boxing etc, they literally could not say anything else. They were so broken to a point they openly admit they are better now like its a set rule and if you go against it, its a crime.

Point is just work more and they will eventually submit. Just like with Tiktok. They're not actually that strong in self-belief.

Being a friend of the U.S has indeed proven to be fatal, and it's MUCH more dangerous than being an enemy of the U.S.
The US has no friends, only vassals. It makes sense that vassals have it worse than rival lords; after all, the latter belong to the same class while vassals will forever be of lower status. It’s the classic Indo-European caste system.
