She was quoted in the SCMP as follows

Would directly contradict that.

Why is this a trap? What headaches? If government wants to help, then why shouldn't they?
She is not "Chinese" enough for you? She still has relatives who are Chinese citizens, can it not be considered a favour to them?
This is not sponsoring Mossad to go free her.
It would essentially be a Stare decisis as they say, In the future if US were to mass incarcerate former citizens their relatives in China could pressure Beijing to act and this case would be pointed out to justify it besides if Hamas decides to let her go they'll be expecting a favour which could put China in an unfavourable position it's simply not worth the trouble it makes sense to go through with it only if the said person is of the caliber of someone like Qian Xusen

India ranked 111th out of 125 countries in the Global Hunger Index-2023 with the country reporting the highest child wasting rate at 18.7 per cent
Highest child wasting rate in the world. Then what good is that "demographic dividend"?

The index was released on Thursday. India ranked 107th out of 121 countries in 2022.
Bharat Supapowa dropped even further in the Global Hunger Index this year, by 4 places. Even when India have sent a probe to the moon. Even after India had hosted the G20 and proclaims itself as the "leader" of the Global South. Even after India had announced with its friends the: India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor.

Of course, the any ranking system that puts India in a bad light is wrong. An India ruled by the 56-inch chest Supapowa PM, Narendra Damodardas Modi can never fall this low in the Global Hinger Index! There has to be a global agenda against Bharat Supapowa. All off the world must be wrong, and the great PM, Modiji is always right!

India 111th out of a total of 125 countries.
LOL! This is impossible! How can a Bharat Supapowa rank 111th out of 125 countries in the Global Hunger Report 2023? Supapowa Bharat demands a reevaluation!

Notably, India was ranked below neighboring countries Pakistan (102th), Bangladesh (81st), Nepal (69th), and Sri Lanka (60th). In 2022, India ranked 107th out of 121 countries surveyed – again, well below its neighbors.
This is an insult! Supapowa India cannot rank lower in the hunger index than inferior nations like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, ever!

The Health Ministry also claimed that the index didn’t use data collected via the government application called the Poshan Tracker, which was created as part of the drive to address malnutrition. This is despite the fact that key international organizations, including UNICEF, WHO, and the World Bank, “have acknowledged the Poshan Tracker as a game-changer in the area of nutrition,” the statement said.
How dare the Global Hunger Report don't use Indian government data! PM Modiji never lies! The world should have just accepted his data!

You should see the hanjians on twitter. Already b*tching why no one helped (looked to me a crowd was gathering at the end though) and of course they're repeating the racist trope of 'chinese have no empathy'. Ah yes, just let me charge at the person carrying a knife, what'll go wrong?
These morons that claim "why didn't anyone help" has never been in any threatening situation and never saved anyone while having "hero" fantasies their entire lives.

A couple of stunned and unarmed civilian passersby not immediately jumping into a knife fight between two adult men --> Chinese are cowards with no empathy

300+ law enforcement officers equipped with assault rifles, stun grenades, bullet proof vests and helmets standing around outside an elementary school for 1 hour and 14 minutes despite pleas for help on 911 calls from terrified children hiding in classrooms from a rampaging teenage boy who eventually murdered 19 children and 2 teachers --> Americans are brave chivalrous heroes

Yeah but have you considered that the Chinese at the scene did not wear punisher stickers, therefore they are not the badass like the Americans are.

and Supapowa india = not 'starving'

Therefore... JAI HIND!!!!!

Wars do have a tendency to spread.

If it does not spread, it will always escalate. That is the historical norm.

The Vietnam War was a perfect example. It started off small scale for the Americans, then they had over 600,000 troops in South Vietnam, and the draft. Then North Vietnam was bombed, along with Laos and Cambodia.

Ukraine fighting can spill over into Poland.

Israel vs the Arab world is always a latent threat.

We see what happens.

It is that expression for the Americans. When you go looking for trouble, usually you will find it.

A two front war being paid by Uncle Sam.

They should bring back President Trump. He was the only guy who dared to say, no more stupid wars!

MAGA-communism 2024!

:D

I think there is some disagreement between ukraine and the Polish... who will be fighting who?

Its obvious a senile and paranoid Unlce Sam is trying to toss its lower tier vassals into the flames and hoping a fire will set back the Asian economies, lets hope everyone is wise enough to just enjoying the free cash/military equipment

Trump is sorta a basketcase himself and likely people working with him may even be more insane or hawkish on China. Its hard to tell, but i do think he would of forced some more negotiation in Ukraine by now.... or at least have them be cannon foddler in a final push to end it.

The European Union's top diplomat is due to arrive in Shanghai on Thursday with a message for China: take us more seriously.

In an exclusive interview with the Post before his departure,

said China should stop viewing its relationship with Europe through the lens of its rivalry with the United States, adding that the bloc's more sober judgments on Beijing are made entirely independently.

"My first objective is to reaffirm to my Chinese interlocutors that Europe takes China seriously and has no hidden agenda aiming at derailing its rise.

"At the same time, we expect from China to take us more seriously and stop looking at us through the lens of its relations with others. Our assessment and conduct is driven by our own interests," Borrell said.

His comments reflect a frustration in Europe that Beijing does not accept that the union has come to its own conclusions on China as relations worsen.

China's state media often portrays the EU as a "puppet" of the US, but Borrell insisted that the "war in Ukraine has transformed us ... from the position of an economic power to a geopolitical one, taking its strategic responsibilities very seriously".

The EU's high representative for foreign affairs and security policy, is due to arrive in Shanghai amid turmoil in the Middle East, war in Ukraine, and heightened tensions between the US and China.

He travelled on the eve of China's Belt and Road Summit, a significant event in China's diplomatic calendar, which is expected to be attended by a single EU leader, Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

Borrell will meet business figures and Chinese academics at the Shanghai Institutes For International Studies, a think tank linked to the foreign ministry, before flying to the Chinese capital for talks with Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Friday and to give a speech at Peking University.

Global issues will loom over the dialogue with Wang,

, which are not part of the official agenda but which will "no doubt" be raised, senior EU sources confirmed.

"There are also regional issues on which we can try to work together, including the Middle East, where the current violence in the Israel-Palestine conflict threatens the stability of the whole region," Borrell told the Post.

China has refrained from condemning Hamas' attack on Israel, but has expressed sorrow at civilian losses. So far at least 2,100 people have been killed on both sides.

"We're deeply saddened by the civilian casualties and oppose and condemn acts that harm civilians ... we oppose moves that escalate the conflict and destabilise the region and hope fighting will stop and peace will return soon," foreign ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said on Monday.

is also on the agenda, with Borrell saying the EU is "not totally convinced" that China is a neutral party. The Spaniard said Ukraine is also concerned by Beijing's stance.

It has never condemned the invasion that started in February last year, and its ambassador to Brussels Fu Cong

in a conflict that has become the dominant issue in EU foreign policy over the past 19 months.

European officials have regularly criticised Chinese spokespeople and state media for parroting Moscow's talking points.

"To be frank, in Europe

in this conflict. How to remain neutral between an aggressor and the country it has invaded?" Borrell said.

"Being neutral in such a case is just like watching on the sidelines as the fox enters the henhouse and waiting for the outcome."

Borrell described China's involvement in a peace conference Saudi Arabia hosted in Jeddah in August as a "good step", but said "China can certainly do more, including in its engagement on the peace formula put forward by Ukraine" and warned "a lot remains to be done to convince Ukraine that China is not on Russia's side".

Borrell said he understands why China does not adopt the same position as Europe, even as he cautioned it not to "endorse the Russian position".

"We are not expecting China to take the European line. We know the Chinese calculations and constraints behind this conflict and their tendency to look at it through the lens of its competition with the US," he said.

Borrell's trip to China is part of a series of visits by senior EU commissioners responsible for areas such as trade, digital affairs, energy and the environment. The cumulative goal is to lay the ground for a leaders' summit before the year's end, although no date has been set.

But the visits are also a chance to tell the Chinese leadership that the EU is unhappy with the current state of the relationship and intends to pursue a narrow form of de-risking, even if it has no intention of cutting ties with China completely.

The union recently launched an

in China, which it claims are distorting the European market, and is ready to slap tariffs on Chinese steel as part of an agreement with the United States.

A series of commissioners have floated the prospect of a probe into subsidies in China's wind turbine sector, but senior officials denied that there was anything imminent on that front.

"We are concerned by our trade imbalances, which are rapidly growing. Our massive trade deficit with China cannot be the mere product of a competitive disadvantage between the EU and China. It has to do with persistent market access problems encountered by European firms in China," said Borrell.

"The crux of the matter is that China is becoming less attractive. European firms can no longer send as many expatriates to China. We also care about the reaction of our public's opinion, considering the potential losses of jobs in critical sectors such as the automotives ... In a democratic system such as the European one, you cannot ignore what voters think," he added.

Asked about tensions in the Taiwan Strait, Borrell said that the EU remained "fully committed to its one-China policy", which he said is based on six principles including no formal recognition of the island as an independent state and no "intimidation, coercion and provocation from any side".

However, within that, Europe retained the right to nurture bilateral ties with Taiwan, "which do not imply any kind of political recognition as an independent country".
