This is actually a pretty smart move. The plan is that either the Chinese authorities stand with Israel in the fight against antisemitism or China becomes part of the axis of evil where no Jew is safe.

Why is this a trap? What headaches? If government wants to help, then why shouldn't they?
She is not "Chinese" enough for you? She still has relatives who are Chinese citizens, can it not be considered a favour to them?
This is not sponsoring Mossad to go free her.
