Anyone knows why China openly parked almost 200 fishing vessels in the Philippines area?

They are so close to each other that there is no way this is a normal fishing operation.

Is China trying to test US resolve?
Does it want to send a signal to the SCS claimant countries?

@voyager1 its a big news here as the opposition try to make it an election issue in the coming Presidential election, for me its a foolish move on China part, the China policy of Duterte is slowly becoming a non issue until this happen. But I sense the Philippine side had been informed by their Chinese counterpart ,the photo may had taken by the American P8 MPA and maybe they intentionally leaked it or somebody in our DND did. Other way The Philippine diplomatic protest had been sent ASAP and the Chinese withdrew but it leave a sour taste in ones mouth.

And one more thing, I think the Chinese embassy need to coordinate more with China foreign Ministry, the former Chinese ambassador Zhao Jianhua had done a good job during his tenure especially in 2016 when the Judgment regarding the SCS arbitration had been announced and how he work with Duterte to lessen the tension.

CN was just trying to please Trump, hoping that would stop Trump sanction on CN. Weak Strategy
China may not approve the crazy stuff Kim did, but should never being seen helping NK ennemy.
Internationally, this is known as being a responsible member, NOT just a country with a I-hate-everything-you-love-and-love-everything-you-hate grudge against the US. The more a country is in panic of losing to a rival, the more this childish stance is adopted and the US is increasingly of this school of thought against China, often at its own detriment. That's real weakness.
They should have made of NK a "lieutenant" in the coming war with US to counter JP.
LOL Make a country a lieutenant? What game do you think you are playing? North Korea can't even take care of it's own ass, and its combat prowess is known among the Chinese to be quite low for how poorly they fought in the Korean War. Then accounting for its antiquated military, the best way that North Korea can help China is to take care of itself. Taking on Japan is an unfairly tall order for them, especially with South Korea at the door.

Big news today is that China has imposed Sanctions on 9 UK individuals including 5 MPs, including the nauseating Tom Tugginhat.

By delicious coincidence, another big story of the day is about Islamic Parents in Yorkshire, protesting about Children being shown the Charlie Hebdoe cartoon

Very much this. Kim is a lot smarter than some people give him credit for and you call tell he wants a closer relationship with China from all the stuff he's signalling. Notice how in last year's parade his boys abandoned the Soviet style march and instead switched to PLA style march so they don't seem as bouncy? That's not a coincidence. As soon as the unrest in Hong Kong started in 2019 North Korea came out with a scathing piece in their state media with the tone of "just give the word uncle and I'll crush them all under my steel tread". China had to calm him down.
Yeah I did notice the big change in the last North Korean military parade. It very 'PLA like'. Gone are the old Soviet style goose-stepping marches. The KPA's new military gear was a pleasant surprise to see. It was a remarkable achievement considering the sanctions they endured, and their lack of new (legal) military procurement in decades. This shows that the KPA have indeed been learning and modernizing their warfighting capability; with obvious input from the PLA.

Word (from 观棋有语) is this year he wants to start a Deng style economic reform as well as put in a rule that his successor no longer has to be from the Kim family.
If true, this is excellent news for NK. I think NK right now is going through a phase of reforming the domestic economy first. Opening up the country to foreign investment is probably not a priority now. Sanctions should keep Western businesses out of NK for awhile. But I think if they are one day allowed to come, NK would not really welcome them, for good reasons.

If Kim Jong Un really does reform the government to allow non-Kim family members to secede, then its a major breakthrough for NK. Hopefully they would put a meritocratic selection process in place. NK would then follow in the footsteps of China and Singapore.

The haters are always gonna look at Kim Jong Un as the 'fat rocket man'. But this is a cruel world for communist countries (except for Vietnam). I believe that just like Mao-era China, NK needs the nukes first. Only nukes can give NK relative peace of mind from an American invasion. Now that NK have the nukes, and the missiles to deliver them to Uncle Sam, SK, and Japan, can it focus more into economic development.
