Japan needs to be humbled before it can come to their senses. Just like old Imperial Japan, it needs to suffer a catastrophic chain of defeats and destruction before the Emperor finally spoke to the public for the first time in Japanese history, calling for surrender. This stock market crash is likely the beginning of a chain of unpleasant things happening to Japan, but it is still quite far from the endgame of Japan reconciling with China.
