SCMP praising the Mongolian Olympic team attire while deriding China's one as "ugly and sexist".

Yes the Mongolian Olympic team outfits looked good. But in sports, its ability that wins medals, not looks. The Chinese Olympic team is still more formidable than the Mongolian team. Not because they look good, but because they are actually good.
True, but one has to agree that the cn design attire sucks ass.

Just wear fucking hanfu or smth, no need to suck up to western fabric design

It's a fuckin' red jacket over white shirt and pants. What is there to criticize? I find them completely fine; simple, striking color, to-the-point. If I had seen a better but still simple and bold athletic outfit built around the hanfu, I might go that way but I didn't see the choices and I don't see anything wrong. That's my team; I love how they look and I'm sure they'll make me proud with how they perform. That's it.
It's very clearly West-inspired.

It already happened. Already increased to almost 4% of GDP, and have already made the largest proportional increase in defense budget in Europe in just 1 year (2022-2023). The only announcement is they plan on increase even more.
They are buying weopons on loans. They are in violation EU deficit rule much more than most of the EU. so highly likely severe budget cuts will be coming. on top of that Ukranians are drained out from there society. they will have to integrate much larger scale of people from Global South. which will add costs and inefficiencies since Poland does not have that experience such large scale integration.

One of the few times i agree with SCMP opinion on something Chinese.
Chinese outfit look extremely boring and western, a bit more hanfu style outfits would look better.

They are not terrible but I think the uniforms could be better as well. Those "jackets" are evolution of western suit style. They should be evolving off the Chinese style from the 1900s. Even Mao era suits feels more chinese

Non-proliferation talks suspended.

A mild reaction from the China government to the recent arm sales by the US to Taiwan. Comment by the Chinese FM spokesman:
林剑表示,一段时间以来,美方无视中方的坚决反对和反复交涉,持续对台军售,采取一系列严重损害中方核心利益、破坏双方政治互信的消极举动,严重破坏双方继续进行军控磋商的政治气氛。为此,中方决定暂停与美方商谈举行新一轮军控与防扩散磋商,造成这一局面的责任完全在美方。

Going too far I think. Everybody in China wears that to work, meetings, events, etc... The suit/blazer is a style that has such a global acceptance that it's not culturally anyone's anymore; it just stands for getting down to business. Do we need to strip everyone of their suits and all put on hanfu? Are we more Chinese if we go out dressed like the 18th century? What else do we need to throw away because it's too Western? Jeans? Oxford shoes? High heels? Forks? Highly unnecessary I think. We can put a Chinese twist on anything (like that PRC crest) and call it ours and we can win wearing it and they'll be pissed off all the same.

LOL Alright, that was pretty cool. I don't think there's anything bad to trash about the current Olympic uniforms but the outfit in that video would have been a fashion statement. I have never coveted expensive clothes, always saying that one should wear simple inexpensive attire and look good by shaping the body underneath... but I kina want what that guy's wearin'. Maybe tone it down a bit though; don't want people thinking I'm cosplaying or anything.

Looking at that Ambani wedding in India made me realize how bad China could have ended up if Xi and the others didn't put a stop to that.

Meanwhile, the Ambani Wedding price tag clocks in at +$600 million dollars in expenses. $10 million went to hiring Justin Bieber to sing there and millions more to other well known public performers
