Aside from tariffs, Trump now seems to have a knee jerk visceral reaction to oppose anything environmentally friendly as he now associates anything green to left wing liberals. He has talked about rolling back environmental regulations, EV and battery subsidies, and fuel standards. Thing is...US businesses don't really want him to do that as it would make their products uncompetitive around the world. So while the rest of the world is trying to prepare for or positioning to lead the new world of green tech because it also makes business sense, a Trump administration would be trying to turn back the clock and reverse at full speed back to the 1950's.
On the green tech question, given the choice of planetary destruction vs New Energy Tech led by China, I'm 100% certain the anglo/american world will choose destruction. All this talk of transition to EV and Green Energy will fall, and IMO is already falling to the wayside if the Anglo/American world deems it necessary to confront China.
So, IMO its more about ideological imperative than who's currently in charge of the government and that doesn't care about who's in charge.
I'd say even though adoption is still quite high in places like Europe, the slowdown has to do as much with the China question as "consumer demand". See, the current tariffs and those to come yet against Chinese NEVs. I agree, soon the biggest adopters of Green energy/NEVs won't be the "green" Europe but the developing world, as its a means to wean themselves away from Petrodollar.
