It goes both ways. If they keeps feeding domestic audience crazy shits, they will be forced to act crazy.

If you ask me, souring relationship with most important economic country over weird territory claims is absurd. Like, there is 0 chance they are getting these disconnected territory fighting a nuclear superpower over it. Nor would the population submit to their rule. They have better chance rebuilding Ottoman empire in middle east than lusting over landlocked regions half continent away.
I don't know much about Turkish politics but I think Erdogan needs the ultranationists votes even though he and his cabinet may not have crazy ideas about Xinjiang. It's pretty obvious China prefers to deal with other Turkish parties, sadly Putin had to save Erdogan. Honestly without Putin, Erdogan would have been couped already.

I wonder how much contact China has with the kurds in Turkey ;)

Even though that news is from RFA the FM did make that statement. The rest of the news is usual RFA BS, but Turkey is still not fully faithful with China.

None of the statements the Turkish side made were too sensitive but still shows the Turkish side wants to pander to domestic audience. I think unless Turkey brings some significant East Turkestan heads (dead or alive) to China, they won't be fully allowed in SCO and BRICS.
the Turks are just another non white non christian ethnic group which simultaneously wants to be white (accepted into the EU) whilst wanting to be the leader of the islamic world. They are effectively the Indians of europe.

gaokao is over; i am surprised at the essay topics and the insight and awareness of global and national and social events required. You can see the CPC selects for those with an innate sense of social responsibility.

this is just history repeating itself, the oasis cities along the old silk road being connected through time via the new silk road: the BRI. Did you know Li Bai may have been born in modern Kyrgystan? that the Ferghana heavenly horses that were instrumental in defeating the Xiongnu hailed from Kyrgystan?

10+ years ago such comments would have invigorated pan-Turkic sentiments among Xinjiang Uyghurs and even led to protests or violence. Today, such sentiments and their espousers have been completely pacified within China.

10 years ago they would still get nothing off China. Not even during Qing's era did they stand a chance chomping off land off China. Honestly an absurd strategy.

If they keep feeding crazy, they would be forced to dance crazy. I do not expect them to do 180, but it would be wise to dial down the rhetoric or at least do not stir it further.

Where does this crazy behaviour and entitlement come from?
It comes from a misplaced sense of superiority based off their proximity to white anglo power and 'whiteness'. "we turks are superior because we are caucasians...OH PLEASE ACCEPT US INTO THE EU!!". In modern history, the Turks have only excelled at making themselves the new janissaries to the Anglo American/zionists, not unlike Indians becoming the new sepoys. Ironically, janissaries were often european christian boys enslaved to serve muslim turkish rulers and now, the role is reversed!

asean connectivity to China continues unabated. What does the Anglo led west have to offer asians other than life as a servile eunuch in their world order?

You'd figure with all the delays they would have everything checked and covered.

Boeing is getting worried that their planes crashing are no longer newsworthy, so they are doing a crash, in space! Maybe they can stuff it full of whistleblowers and kill many whistleblowers with one rocket.

I think people are misunderstanding Turkey's current moves. I wrote about Turkish FM visit to China and what he said in detail in another post here.
I actually think Turkish FM visited Xinjiang and interacted with the locals precisely to assuage the exaggerated claims of some Turkish people who trust the western narrative.
But of course, he can't just totally dismiss and be silent of the concerns otherwise he'd be accused of selling to the Chinese (in fact Al Jazeera already ran a hit piece about this topic accusing him of silence). And it's important to see the comments in their full context:

"In my talks with the Chinese friends, I always pointed out that Xinjiang-related issues cover multiple aspects, but there is no problem here. Changing the world's, especial the Islamic world's existing understanding of Uyghur cultural rights and life would be beneficial to both China and Türkiye. It is beneficial to everyone. Therefore, we have always said that we support the one-China policy and we support China in safeguarding its national sovereignty and territorial integrity," said Fidan.
I actually read it as him saying that there is no problem and what China really needs is a better PR team and his visit to Xinjiang is aimed at helping China achieve exactly that.
