I saw this rumor floating on twitter recently, has this been discussed? If true it sounds like big news. China can't allow terrorist attacks on China's trade infrastructures in neighbouring countries, next thing you know Russia-China pipelines are blowing up everywhere.

I have heard reports that a couple train cars carrying diesel and aviation fuel were blown up inside the tunnel. But even if the SBU did do the attack on the tunnel like they said, the reports you see on the strategic importance of the railway as published by Ukrainian news are just plain lies. For example I read on those news that this is the only rail line between Russia and China, which is bullshit. The tunnel is in the Baikal-Amur-Mainline railway which is usually used to ship Russian coal to China. Not carry general purpose cargo between Russia and China. That usually goes either via the Trans Siberian railway or via Kazakhstan's railways. Those routes are the ones optimized for container cargo right now. Which is what you would use to carry components to make weapons if you wanted to use rail to carry them. They would go via container. The Baikal-Amur-Mainline is typically used to carry bulk cargo not containers. The BAM lacks the dry port facilities to carry containers efficiently.
The BAM does have strategic importance to Russia, and they have been spending huge amounts of money and resources to expand it. But that is being done in order to increase the amounts of bulk cargo, like minerals, sold to China. It is also being used as a route to go deeper north in the Far East to explore new mining sites. Claiming it is being used as a major route for military supplies from China to Russia is just bollocks.

Where Russia did it? A country does not become a non western or standing upto just because it says so. It will need provide concrete historical context and show it can do independently and without coordination with other.

In all those cases Russia standing up where it mattered and opposed US/Saudi/Israel alliance. when others were selling Saudi with weopons and doing business with Israel . (Natanyahu-Putin separate limited cooperation came much later). If Russia kowtow to so called west than its investment and education policies will be very different. All those children from global South that studying in top universities in America obtaining education from Jewish professors whose forefathers were mostly thrown out from Russian empire. What about those investments that propelled global growth in third world. If West is weak than Saudi and UAE will not be in BRICS and that without Trump. Trump with full authority supported by Arabs is empire on steriods. even without Trump Saudi beat Korea for World Expo after getting Fifa. there is alot more that i can write.
