Maybe the IDF will become dependent on American aid around the same time Russia's economy surpasses Japan's. Both should happen soon right? In fact you claim the ladder has already happened.
yup when Japan Independently develops so many diverse projects from Vaccines to Software to Aviation Independently without so much debt/foreign R&D. i have simple criteria how Gulf Arabs look at the things. Japanese products are good in certain sectors but not Japan. Japan will keep asking.

Look, I am legitimately sorry for posting such a dumb and inflammatory reply, hence my deleting it, but Japan did do all of these things. It started industrializing 60 years before Russia did. That doesn't make it nationally superior, after all we are all in favor here of one country that was very late to industrialize, but it does mean that accusing its technology of being more foreign dependant than Russia is foolish. Turbofan technology was initially transferred to the USSR from Britain, for instance. Also this should go without saying but basically all of the contemporary Russian federation's core technological competencies, from turbofans to nuclear reactors and weapons to rockets, satellites, vaccines, etc were all inherited from the USSR. The RF did not create them, and it has iterated on them much slower than the USSR would have given its vastly smaller economic base.

On the topics of IDF and American aids, yes Israel is relying on US. Israel has good military and can put a good fight on their own against neighbours. But that is for defense. There is not enough production capacity after cold war for a prolonged conflict. This is why even just for Gaza Israel needs US transporting bombs from Iraq.

That is not to say Israel cannot afford it. They are rich enough to pay for these imports under war economy. Problem is money is not useful without political backing. Without US favoritism Israel will not have sufficient artillery shells due to Ukraine use, regardless of money.

Much is made about the USSR importing the Rolls-Royce Nene engine which they cloned as the Klimov VK-1 engine for the MiG-15. But that was a centrifugal turbojet. Not a turbofan.

The USSR had been working on jet engines since the late 1930s:

The problem was due to WW2 development on jet engines was stopped for years. For example Lyulka had developed a prototype of an axial flow turbojet between 1939-1941 but then with the war he was sent from Kharkiv in Ukraine to Chelyabinsk in the Urals to work on diesel engines for tanks between 1941-1942. Development on jet engines by him only resumed in 1943. So the Soviets were severely lagging behind in jet engine research when the war ended. The Soviets ended up cloning first German jet engines like the Jumo 004 and BMW 003, and later they cloned the Rolls-Royce Nene. While they had their own native axial turbojet engine design made by Lyulka, the TR-1 engine, the performance was behind the foreign engines so it was never put into serial production. Lyulka much later developed the TR-7 engine which was eventually renamed to AL-7. This is the engine used in the Su-7 Fitter which was the first Soviet fighter to fly at Mach 2.

As for turbofans the Soviets developed their own turbofans which were not based on foreign designs. i.e. the Soloviev D-20.

The key problem with the attitude of many Israelis and western journalists is that they perceive a Jewish life to be more precious than a non Jewish life. You can see this racist attitude in the actions of the Israeli state. In past wars they have aimed to kill 50-100 times more enemy civilians than the Jewish civilians that they lose. If the pattern continues, they're going to murder 100,000 civilians in Gaza. This is genocide. That's why people in the international community outside the west are so upset. They know what it means when a group of people with better technology and an arrogant racist attitude of feeling superior use their power to brutalise people they regard as inferior

Just accept it. A Jewish life is no more precious than a Russian or Ukrainian or Palestinian life. You are not special. A murder of a Jewish child living near Gaza is not as horrific as the murder of 100 Palestinian children.

Since the Jewish genocide during WW2 the Jewish people in Israel have turned from victim into perpetrator. It wouldn't be difficult for Israel to get the sympathy of the world. Just stop murdering people and allow the Palestinians to develop their own state

US delegation to attend global security forum in Beijing

The United States Department of Defense will send a delegation to the 10th Beijing Xiangshan Forum, a high-level security conference set to kick off on Sunday, organizers said on Tuesday.
According to the forum's organizing committee, Cynthia Carras, a senior official for China policy at the US Office of the Secretary of Defense for Policy, has registered on the official website of the forum and will lead the delegation.
Chad Sbragia, the US department's former deputy assistant secretary of defense for China, will also attend the forum as an expert.
The elite Xiangshan forum, which will be held from Sunday to Oct 31, will focus on global security.
Zhao Yufei, deputy secretary-general of the organizing committee, said as of Monday, more than 90 official delegations from countries and international organizations have confirmed their participation, including Russia, the US, Iran, Singapore, Nigeria, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia.
Among them are 22 senior officials at the defense-minister level or above and 14 representatives at the military chief-of-staff level.
In addition, more than 200 experts from more than 50 countries and regions have registered for the conference.
