Are we going to pretend Karl Marx is an eastern philosopher and the Cultural Revolution never happened?
Did Mao based his communisim on chinese philisphy rather than Marxism. And yeah the Cultural Revolution was bad but it's leagues better than the westernization of HK and Taiwan. Because Mao isn't a cuck who wants to bow to the superpowers (USSR and USA)

Chinese proto socialism goes back to the Warring States era with Mohism and was further developed during the Han Dynasty under Wang Mang reforms and then Tang dynasty with the first public enterprises in 榷盐制.

Karl Marx merely provided a more modern framework for an intellectual tradition in public benefit since 400 BC.

That's not socialism. Just like nobody will call ancient Rome socialist, despite engaging in far reaching grain subsidies for hundreds of thousands and providing freshwater supplies for virtually everyone.

You're anachronistically taking one of the most fundamental shifts in human history for granted:
To even approach socialism you'll need the transition away from societal feudalism and slavery,
these are the core ideals of 1789, today universally enacted.

Despite all the hypocrisy and evildoing of 19th century Imperialism the core justification was ...eventually... fulfilled.
The irony is of course that while every westerner is taught of the great evil of Imperialism, they will also be taught to support 21st century analogues despite far lesser justification: "Axis of evil".

Rome was a slave society while China abolished slavery in the bronze age. Their grain subsidies were targeted towards maintaining social stability in the capital alone and didn't have the philosophical foundations of Mohism or Wang Mang's land reforms.

I don't think westerners are taught about the evils of imperialism, they are taught about the glories of manifest destiny and the only thing bad about it was that the settlers who came to steal Native American land had to work hard.

The settlers have overcome hazardous terrain and death in order to reach the American West, bathed in a welcoming golden light. This vision of the frontier as a promised land persisted. There was a price to be paid, however. Frontiersmen had to be willing to face the risks inherent in migration – but had their parents not faced similar risks in coming to America? They had to be willing to do the backbreaking work required to turn a wilderness into prosperous farms and towns – but had their ancestors not done that as well?

Terry Gou published an OP in Washington Post. I suspect KMT made a mistake by not nominating him.

KMT didn't appoint its leader, the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) did. That's why they picked a CIA puppet for KMT presidential candidate. Terry Gou is not fit to be ROC president, he is a sly businessman, look at his previous positions.

DPP's Lai is the obviously the way to go. Hoping he clinch the 2024 election so we can have fireworks by 2027!

More indictment, Trump might clinch the Republican presidential nomination but could be put in jail by the time of general election.

Come to think of it, President Trump and China, increasingly have more things in common, that Washington DC want to prosecute both!

Senior Chinese officials talk to Kerry, ‘show sincerity’ on climate
‘Atmosphere of cooperation hinges on temperature of China-US ties’
Senior Chinese officials met with visiting US climate envoy John Kerry on Tuesday in the hope of enhancing dialogue and communication to tackle the joint challenge of climate change, an area with bilateral cooperation potential.

However, as cooperation on climate involves not only the climate issue itself but also supply chain and technologies related to new energy and green transformation, climate cooperation can be advanced only when the overall China-US relations are heading in a positive direction and when the US stops industry and technological containment of China, experts said.
In addition to frequent China-US interactions in recent weeks including the visits by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen to Beijing, one signal worth noting is that Chinese State Councilor and Defense Minister Li Shangfu met with Henry Kissinger, the centenarian former US secretary of state, in Beijing on Tuesday. Both sides emphasized the necessity of a stable, predictable and constructive relationship, which is essential for world peace, stability and prosperity.

Some experts also believe that as an influential old friend of China, Kissinger could play an important role in helping pave the way to the resumption of military-to-military communication between the two countries.
China-US cooperation on climate change enjoys great potential. But this cannot be achieved without the understanding and support of the two peoples and the general environment of China-US relations,

It is hoped that the US side will pursue a rational, pragmatic and positive China policy, continue to adhere to the one-China principle, properly handle the Taiwan question, and work with China by upholding mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation, Wang noted.
Lü Xiang, research fellow at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, told the Global Times on Tuesday that climate change is a very good platform for the two countries to cooperate as it involves many other aspects including technology and new energy. If the US is sincere about it, climate cooperation could help resume cooperation in many other sectors. "But so far, it looks like this is not US' desire."
"If the US truly wants to cooperate with China in climate change, it should not suppress some sectors where China has the advantages, for example, the battery production for electric vehicle," Lü said.
Lü, far from optimistic, said that with the US' chaotic mentality, it's almost unrealistic to expect that Kerry's visit would change the overall atmosphere of the China-US relations, even though China has already "put its sincerity on the table."

Whatever Biden wants, he wants it badly cause there aren't many people left more friendly to China than Yellen, Kerry and Kissinger. The only people left are Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton.

Flying a centenarian to China is already pretty desperate, but they have an even more desperate plan ahead.

Jimmy Carter’s Last Triumph Could Be to Soothe U.S.-China Relations

If, after the 39th president dies, Xi Jinping makes the bold decision to attend any memorials, it would honor Carter’s cementing America’s “One China” policy. Why the Biden administration should start encouraging the Chinese leader now.

Architects of global order also leave legacies. If there is one U.S. president besides Richard Nixon who remains admired in China today, it is Carter, who has now forsaken any more hospital admissions, preferring to live out the remainder of his days at his home in Plains, Georgia. His noble life, however, can create a new dawn for U.S.-China relations if Beijing prepares to honor Carter’s legacy and emulate the 39th president’s bold approach toward peace.
China should contemplate options to honor Jimmy Carter when he dies and, in the process, open today’s tightly shut door to dialogue with Washington. The U.S. can subtly encourage them to do so.
While the 98-year-old is in hospice, the Chinese leadership should contact the president and his family through the Carter Center to express sympathy for him and former First Lady Rosalynn Carter. The center recently announced that the former first lady has dementia.

When Carter passes away, the People’s Republic of China ought to send a high-level delegation to the United States and a message to Joe Biden’s administration—and all Americans—that it wants to build on the Annapolis graduate’s legacy of closer Sino-U.S. ties. Such gestures from China, whose culture values “face”—a deeply ingrained Chinese cultural understanding of personal and societal honor—would show that our nations can get along and share respect for Carter and what he represented.
China’s delegation to the U.S. should be led by Chairman Xi Jinping, who could personally honor Carter at any state funeral.
Washington should speed the moment by dropping diplomatic hints that Xi Jinping would be welcome to come and honor Carter and that Biden would informally receive him.

In ancient times if there was a retired emperor, we called up minor vassal kings to attend the Emperor Emeritus funeral too. China couldn't even call the Emperor of Japan to attend if they didn't want to, and Japan at the time was 1/5 the size.

Why does the U. S. want so badly to “smooth” relations with a country whose sovereignty, progress, and influence it is determined to undermine at every turn? Perhaps what Xi “should” do, is re-establish full diplomatic interactions with the U. S. and institute a policy of bad-faith negotiations, i. e., agree to everything the U. S. wants, put-out communiques to that effect, and immediately ignore such agreements and communiques. This could presented to the non-colonized international community as the only rational and effective means by which to “relate” to the U. S.
