That's a fair response. I don't agree with all the points you made but I understand the logic and reasoning you are trying to make. I appreciate the effort.Ah here we go again. Well a cursory search online doesn't yield Chinese government statistics on knife attacks and other attacks causing mass casualty, so here's a wikipedia article on school stabbings in China, which doesn't take into account other attacks from lonewolf mentally ill people who prefer to use their car or arson in public spaces.
Thank you for your story on crime in the Philippines. Only, just to point out it kind of counts as an anecdote, which you have criticized me in the past for. But I don't want to elaborate further since the next paragraph will address this.
And finally, eventhough I've been guilty of this in the past, I just want to say you're getting a little hopped up and accusing me of saying things I didn't even say. Above all, nowhere did I ever make this a discussion about crime rates. For one crime rate encompass all matters of violence beyond mass killings, such as gang violence, assault, robberies, and theft, and a cursory read of my previous two posts can show I did not mention it at all. And if it makes you feel better, I did say in a previous post that the spate of mass casualty incidents in America is more than China.
Since you just went on an unrelated tangent, I think that's about as much discussion is needed. Somehow I feel that as long as I didn't mention the US, people would've actually discussed the topic at hand, rather than just wildly accusing me of slandering China. And just as a reminder, the topic at hand are mass casualty incidents in China caused by lonewolf mentally ill people.
If I was being testy and even emotional with my response, I was because I know first hand how shit goes down in the Philippines and I won't say anything more than that. Ask any Filipinos on what they think of the level of criminality that happens in the country and they would tell you the truth. It's not pretty. It was Duterte that made the country somehow safe from the criminals that were running rampant and unabated that's been going on for decades. Most Filipinos that are from the small town province would not have the lived experience of being raped, robbed in open daylight with either a knife or guns and or both and get shot at (guns are everywhere in the Philippines) in most cities.
I suggest to you to watch Philippine news on YouTube on their news channels like GMA, ABS-CBN, TV5, and others to see the level of violence unfortunately happens. Their malls have armed guards, the entrances and exits are blocked by armed guards which have been normalized for the people in that country which do provide a level of safety.
Come and visit Tondo, and other shoddy areas in Manila and see how it turns out for you. There's a lot of shitty things that happens in that country that have been normalized and accepted by the majority in that country but most of them couldn't wait to actually leave the country of they have the means to do so to escape the suffocating poverty and criminality. Only the well-off, upper middle class folks can truly enjoy the lifestyle in that country.
Filipinos are resilient people and are generally very positive not to mention very welcoming but they tend to bury their negative opinions and feelings about their country because most of them who have gone abroad/overseas/foreign countries that are welcoming of immigrants couldn't wait to leave the PH for good.
