We have to be a little bit cautious here. Before affirmative action there was "legacy action", which was essentially "white affirmative action". Now Asians still have to compete with white Americans head-on. How much Asian Americans can really benefit from the revoke of such policies remains to be seen.

I don't see any legal ground for the US banning Western banks' cooperation with China to expand the use of digital Yuan. Of course, they can always invoke the national security threat nonsense to intimidate every Western banks.

The good thing is, there is probably a limit to what the US can do.

Peter Zeihan is just another Gordon Chang. But it is still good to know.

Team USA:

Ya Ya is having a good time at home as usual.

Whoever thinks allowing North Korea to have nuclear weapons that can nuke Beijing in 10 minutes with little warning is in China's interests needs to think again.

North Korea is not a Chinese vassal. The only way China can get NK to relinquish nuclear weapons is to place NK under a Chinese nuclear umbrella, which wouldn't even be feasible since China doesn't have a first strike policy. Without nuclear weapons, NK would be at the mercy of US and SK, and since China has a mutual defense treaty with NK, this would be another pressure point the US could exploit.

The advantage of a nuclear NK is two-fold. First, NK secures China's northeastern flank against US, SK, and Japan. A nuclear NK is China's first strike card. In the extreme eventuality of NK nuclear attack against Japan, China can still de-escalate by sacrificing NK. Trading NK for Japan would be more detrimental to the US than to China. Second, a nuclear NK can reduce its defense expenditure on conventional military, enabling it to develop its economy. A divided Korea is not indefinitely sustainable, so there needs to be alternative options to a US-aligned SK-led reunification. One is a non-US-aligned SK-led reunification. That was the option China tried to pursue 10 years ago, but I don't think anyone still believes that to be viable. The only other alternative then is a NK-led reunification, and that is only possible with an economically strong NK.

I suggest these politicians question Boeing for why they have so much business in China. Test how fast they can get voted out

There is no need for NK to have nukes. China will defend it with conventional weapons and troops. China will never tolerate attacks on NK by anyone (other than herself).

Having nukes around you that are not under your control is never a good idea. What if a Kim goes nuts and decided to nuke Beijing one day? That's why China joined the sanctions to force the Kims to give up the nukes since she has little leverage over the Kims.

RTM is "real time monitoring", the company did know that if the carbon fibre hull were to fail it should emit some cracking noises before failure so they had a system of microphones around the sub to pick up such noises. Some 18 minutes before final communication from the sub the RTM did pick up such noises and the crew spent 18 minutes trying to do emergency ascent with marginal success. The ballast could not be jettisoned. The frame (used to attach the sub to mothership, not needed for the sub to work) was jettisoned after a few attempts and the sub was ascending very slowly (much slower than expected) under vertical thruster power.

China needing to defend NK with conventional military means the potential to open a second front when Taiwan is already flashpoint. It gives the US one more vector to challenge China's red line.

The argument that the NK leadership could one day "go nuts" and nuke Beijing is pretty much entirely from Western propaganda.

I do wish people would stop repeating Western Propaganda about North Korea. In reality it is a resonably developed nation that provides accessable housing, food and education to its citizens even when it is placed under enormous sanctions by the west. Here is a playlist of some chinese tourists visiting North Korea.
