Looks like auto translators got confused by the double negative. "Denied" should be "asserted".
My command of Japanese is not great, but from the context I parse the Japanese phrase as "[lawmaker was quoted as saying] that there is no possibility for independence, [thereby] denying possibility of independence".
Ok, just read the Chinese translation, which says the same: 冲绳出身的议员立刻否定道:“独立是不可能的”。
Also, 孙建国回应说“放心，我对冲绳并没有什么特殊的想法，对北海道也是如此。” I imagine the Japanese would interpret this as 反话
Oh well, no one was going to seriously believe that the USA is going to fold that easily but still this raising of the debt ceiling regardless is going to do more harm then good given how they cannot decrease the money in military so they will reduce spending in everything else, this means that the road to civil war will be shorter then before. So really nothing really changed but given how quickly McCarthy delivered the announcement means that he knows that this will be an unpopular choice given how much the cuts will affect the people in the USA so I cannot see him coming out more popular for this nothing burger stunt that isn’t going to change a thing for the USA except kick things down further, meaning the future crashing is going to be even more painful
