This is one hell of propaganda article with twisted logic and fake news. Firstly, there is no reason why IMF and world Bank can't take a cut. secondly, China isn't the biggest debt holders.

It shows the West is desperate for a deal. I don't think China would settle anything less than every countries and institution take a haircut.

That is institutional global white privilege for you. Chinese lenders should forgive debt but the US owned World Bank and IMF are exempt from those rules because? 'International' law crafted by whites? China should also stay away from the Paris lenders club. To white. The PRC should try to become an independent actor and not shackle her hands by entering white dominated institutions and clubs. We have already to much of those and always headquartered in Europe, Geneva or Washington DC.

Gardener just wrote an Op-Ed in SCMP talking about China

This whole Op-Ed is a propaganda piece. Just read this section for example. There is a clear elephant on the room about potentially fixing the trade between Europe and China. Funny how he doesn't mention CAI
The gardener needs to go on a garden leave. The job is taking a toll on his head. His garden is also not looking too good. The jungle is just too relentless, it's creeping in, regardless of how much weed killer he is using.

They don't have a choice if west refuse to do more loans countries will go with Chinese to avoid default and since there is already a clause for escrow accounts China would gobble up any interest payments while western capital is tied up in perpetuity, Who ever came up with that clauses and shell company agreements is a genius!

Both Thaksin and The Bhumjaithai Party don't want to agitate the monarchy and military and provoke a civil war within Thailand.

“This is Bhumjaithai’s core principle that cannot be changed or negotiated,” the party said in a statement posted on Facebook. “Bhumjaithai cannot vote for a prime minister candidate of a party that has a proposal to amend or abolish Article 112.”

Earlier this week, Thaksin Shinawatra also sought to distance his family from the push of Pita’s party to “lese majeste” even as Pheu Thai party which the former premier backs had agreed to join hands with Move Forward.
So let me guess the new leader got a behind closed doors meeting and got briefed this are the redlines cross them and we will kill you.
Kind of like with US elections where the new president gets a stern talk behind closed doors with pentagon stooges.

“Thais will prove that ballot is stronger than the bullets, back like how president Abraham Lincoln said 200 years ago, will happen in Thailand this year,” Pita said, according to the Australian Broadcasting Corp.

Educated at Harvard and MIT, Pita’s US experience may make it easier for Washington to engage with Bangkok, which enjoys good relations with the Pentagon.

Some, however, suspected Pita was intentionally put up as a frontman to give the MFP a more acceptable “centrist” image while much more radical members lurk in the background.
