Pretty sure youth voting turn out tend to be less than old people. They too busy partying or studying/working. Old retired people on other hand have both money and time for politics.
On the contrary, I think youth voter turn out is actually more than older folks. Because the youths got the energy, and the the enthusiasm. For many of them, it's their first time, coming out to vote. Naivety, idealism, peer pressure, trendy social media posts, and power trip are all the motivating energy a youth voter needs. They are in an idealistic mood, not jaded or cynical, like the more experienced older voters. I know, I've been there before. Which young person doesn't like participating in a nation-defying opportunity to vote out the entrenched, maybe corrupted, and boring politicians?
The Thai election had the greatest voter turnout in it's recent history. I say it is driven by the wave of youth voters. The same happened in Malaysia in 2018, in Hong Kong in 2019. Taiwan had a record turnout in 2020. Mostly driven by youths, who were high on the energy of the HK protests.
Countries with democracies must find a way to deal with their youths. In many cases, the angry youths were victims of economic negligence by the way most democratic economy works. There are no perfect examples for the moment. China is not a democracy by Western definition. Russia is finally doing something, but the results is not obvious yet.
In my own opinion, I think it might be worth a try to turn this youth-influence operations on the US itself. Kinda like what China is attempting to do. Try to find a way to influence the youths to reject American ideals. Show them the truth about America. It cannot be just the parents' job. There must be a national propaganda program. Hijack YouTube, FB, Insta, etc. Promote trendy but patriotic influencers there. I know that there are algorithms, but it doesn't work well on deceptive keywords, and non-English languages. Promote the voices of anti-establishment American influencers. Allow their own sobering messages about America to reach the youths. People like Brian Berletic, Scott Ritter, Jefferey Sachs, Lee Camp, etc. It is doable. I know that not many governments in Asia likes the social media like America. But the price of ignorance is hijacked elections or colour revolutions.
