Because the collective west never truly evolved past feudalism and has always been ruled by the aristocratic elite.

When the leaders are basically all in their positions because of birth not merit, it’s inevitable that their first instinctive reaction to any challenger is indignation and rage that such low-borne upstarts would forget their rightful position and dare to seek to take what rightfully belongs to their ‘betters’.

Aramco don't have any technical staff of their own, they poach technical staff from north America and Europe and pay them a ton of money. If I took a Aramco position I can expect to make 30-40% more and pay no taxes, no housing (provided), and no transportation.

You are also in Australia and I in Canada, so the currency exchange doesn't work in our favor.

The expense of living and high taxes also sucks, but at least it's not Texas.

Exxon had a profit of over 100 billion last year I believe, so big oil can afford to pay their staff big money.

They have likely assininated Shoucheng Zhang a few years back and have destroyed the carreers of hundreds of ''lesser'' Chinese scientific personnel (compared to Zhang) in the US. Mr. Zhang was a high flyer even among the scientific class. White institutional racism instituted from top down. Whether you are a coolie in the barraca colonial in 1850 or a scientist in the US in 2023 you will always start with -100 compared with those who have a vampiric like skin.

Even if you get nice old grandma Yellen to ask the Chinese billionaire for a loan, its not gonna fly because that chinese billionaire is getting everyone in the village to work together to cut you off from your credit until you sort yourself out and quit lighting fires around the place. If you are in need of remediation, then china being old school is not afraid of using the stick.
