Why is the default western reaction to try to cripple the opponent when they’re losing? Specifically, why is the first reaction of western businesses to cry cuz they’re too shit and can’t compete or their government made a stupid market breaking decision to kill its own industries?
Something to think about when you hear Atlanticists talk about “rules based” world order. It means feudalism with Atlanticists at the top and if you’re a non western nation, you’d have to be led by quislings to agree to that.

Applied Materials pays the highest. Process engineers are mostly experienced MS holders or PHD holders. They make $140k total (base pay $90k-120k) in SF Bay Area.
Hitachi, a tier 2 semiconductor equipment engineering company, offers a bit more than half that at $78k-85k.
Most people make way less money than you think.
then why would anybody shore up semi talent if the US lacks money to compete with software?
I think the numbers for China need to be qualified. STEM PhDs making 11k USD a month versus senior software engineers making like 3-4k a month.
Wonder why semiconductor companies don't have that problem and can treat employees like shit even when they have MS or PHD.
Then you wonder why people are fleeing TSMC Arizona and think, where the fuck is the CHIPS money going?
My theory: software companies mostly hire young frustrated incels. They hire young women as the eye candy to keep the incels in their place. Coding is a transferable skill so they can leave if not kept in their place.
No such problem in semiconductor because it doesn't matter how hard you work, nobody can build an ICP etcher alone. So we are tied to our jobs by skillset. Employees here are less replaceable as it's hard to find talent in this field. But it's also hard to find employers for people possessing this talent.
