Wonder why semiconductor companies don't have that problem and can treat employees like shit even when they have MS or PHD.Exactly because of that, if you didn't have those perks, engineers would bail out to Google, Microsoft, etc.
It is kind of a self-reinforcing spiral.
Then you wonder why people are fleeing TSMC Arizona and think, where the fuck is the CHIPS money going?
My theory: software companies mostly hire young frustrated incels. They hire young women as the eye candy to keep the incels in their place. Coding is a transferable skill so they can leave if not kept in their place.
No such problem in semiconductor because it doesn't matter how hard you work, nobody can build an ICP etcher alone. So we are tied to our jobs by skillset. Employees here are less replaceable as it's hard to find talent in this field. But it's also hard to find employers for people possessing this talent.
