Exactly because of that, if you didn't have those perks, engineers would bail out to Google, Microsoft, etc.

It is kind of a self-reinforcing spiral.
Wonder why semiconductor companies don't have that problem and can treat employees like shit even when they have MS or PHD.

Then you wonder why people are fleeing TSMC Arizona and think, where the fuck is the CHIPS money going?

My theory: software companies mostly hire young frustrated incels. They hire young women as the eye candy to keep the incels in their place. Coding is a transferable skill so they can leave if not kept in their place.

No such problem in semiconductor because it doesn't matter how hard you work, nobody can build an ICP etcher alone. So we are tied to our jobs by skillset. Employees here are less replaceable as it's hard to find talent in this field. But it's also hard to find employers for people possessing this talent.

I think the numbers for China need to be qualified. STEM PhDs making 11k USD a month versus senior software engineers making like 3-4k a month.
Chinese semiconductor engineers make 15-30k RMB per month with a MS or PHD, weighed higher for PHDs.

80k RMB per month is huge in China.

They get paid comparable to average semiconductor engineers in the US (~70k USD). Just their cost of living is way lower.

It makes sense for companies like Google, Microsoft etc, but what kind of tech was Twitter developing? They didn’t do anything new until Elon came around and started to push Twitter in the financial sector as the bare minimum. Tho it’s more then likely an exaggerated but Elon also said that there seem to be 10 managers for every developers at Twitter.
That’s just how it is in tech. Mostly middle management and/or deadweight.

That’s what you call the rule of law. Great work Elon.

While Foreign Policy is publishing arrested Chinese officials as evidence of corruption in China, this is going on unabated in the USA.
Who would thought next-door granny who weaves blanket on the rocking chair can be so corrupted - US lawmakers are not just corrupt but corrupt with greedy old souls that cling to their power as they know there's tons of money to make from their positions.
