Chinese semiconductor engineers make 15-30k RMB per month with a MS or PHD, weighed higher for PHDs.

80k RMB per month is huge in China.

They get paid comparable to average semiconductor engineers in the US (~70k USD). Just their cost of living is way lower.
its so crazy that semi professionals need to get a phd and they still end up making less than a new grad at amazon. it's to the point where semi talent would effectively make more in china than in the us, which is unprecedented.

you would think the USG would try to plug this gap, especially how concerned they are concerned with keep US hegemony on semiconductor. if this very basic task can't be accomplished, how the hell is USG gonna preserve it's lead??

they can't and won't. platform software monetizes what would otherwise be free. that's kind of like taxation. in every era, tax collectors are the highest paid, as they are the ones who enable the kings, ministers, priests and knights.

artisans and peasants are the producers, only there to be harvested by tax collectors and landlords until surplus value is completely exhausted. when they are completely exhausted...

Is America About to Have Its Perestroika Moment?

The Biden administration recognizes that America’s sociopolitical and economic system no longer works. But can it be reformed?

Turns out Sullivan's speech was a really big deal, most American elites probably realize the reforms will fail so brush it off anyways.
No it can't be reformed. It will take decades for the US to rebuild their manufacturing sector and de-financialize their economy. In the meantime, China will not sit on their laurel to wait for the US to catch up. The US wants the easy way out by provoking a war over the Taiwan Strait:

China should not give the US the opportunity and instead should wait the US to go down the tubes by itself.

LMAO - they really thought COVID would destroy China.

btw, more data from semiconductor engineers using Indeed. It matches and confirms my data.

In fact even their VPs get paid 300k, which isn't all that high for executives. I think that means senior engineers at FAANG get paid comparable to Qualcomm VPs.

VP at Qualcomm get paid 300k while average senior at FAANG has packages ranging from 270k-400k+ and VP at FAANG probably make 7 digits. Even a non-senior engineer at FAANG would make around 250k.
With these types of numbers, who would want to study EE? Even worse, most of the FAANG money goes to rent and mortgage anyway, so the landlords are raking in more bucks than the engineers.
no wonder why so many semi engineers study Leetcode and try to crack FAANG interview instead its so much more $$ than their work. And who cares about national security, it's not like the USG is rewarding and applauding their efforts...

Who would thought next-door granny who weaves blanket on the rocking chair can be so corrupted - US lawmakers are not just corrupt but corrupt with greedy old souls that cling to their power as they know there's tons of money to make from their positions.

What’s the point of all this money when their children would be learning Xi Jinping thoughts anyway…

Wow is it really that low the salaries for chip/semiconductor engineers? These people are super geniuses, no wonder here in australia, Chinese people loathe working in corporate, i know a couple of Chinese self employed tradies doing simple plastering, painting, making like 300k aud a year

I don't think so.

Applied Materials pays the highest. Process engineers are mostly experienced MS holders or PHD holders. They make $140k total (base pay $90k-120k) in SF Bay Area.

Hitachi, a tier 2 semiconductor equipment engineering company, offers a bit more than half that at $78k-85k.

Most people make way less money than you think.
I'm a process engineer working in O&G, and makes 150k+ a year, not including bonuses. Another cousin of mine works for Facebook as a project engineer, he got a PhD in materials, and makes 200k/y. His wife who got a master's in CS makes around 150k.

The problem is you are looking at averages, I got a ton of cousins that I actual knows how much they make.

VPs are middle management, honestly a dime a dozen these days. In O&G any decent GM or VP salary start at 500k.

The problem with indeed posts is it compares everyone with that title with a self reported salary. That means anyone that got 4 years experience just got their P.Eng or PE is equal to a senior engineer with 20-30 years of experience.

There are super senior engineers in my company just is just called specialist advisor or process engineer, you would never know looking at their title. And they all make 250k+ before bonuses and stocks.
