A big deal.
A confrontation.
A statement.
Backpedaling.
Now, a whole armada is coming, they might have some extra bridges to sell.

The media, truly believes we are all idiots.

Someone got played. No mention of that.

However, I forgive the media.

I kinda like bridges.

:rolleyes::D

The armada thing is because the maritime militia is currently slapping them around:

If Sabina Shoal is fortified and manned permanently it would actually affect supplies between Philippine's Palawan province and the nine islands they control in Spratly Islands, particularly Second Thomas Shoal right next to it where they have that beached ship.

Brazil allows Iranian flotilla to dock in Rio de Janeiro despite US pressure to bar them

The government of Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has allowed a flotilla comprised of two Iranian warships to dock in Rio de Janeiro, ignoring mounting pressure from the United States to bar them.
The Iranian Navy's Makran and Dena warships, which together form the Islamic Republic's 86th flotilla of military vessels, berthed in Rio on Sunday, the port authority was quoted by Reuters as saying in a statement.
Vice Admiral Carlos Eduardo Horta Arentz, the deputy chief of Brazil's Naval Staff, approved the Iranian ships to dock in Rio between February 26 and March 4, following Lula's recent visit to Washington.
On January 28, Rear Admiral Hamzeh Ali Kaviani, the Iranian Navy's second-in-command, had said that the vessels were sailing along Latin America's western shores and were to drop anchor in Rio within a few days.

According to Western media outlets, Brazil had initially delayed docking of the ships as the country's president was flying to Washington to meet with US President Joe Biden.
Earlier in February, US Ambassador to Brasilia, Elizabeth Bagley urged Brazil not to allow the ships to dock, saying, "We firmly believe those ships should not dock anywhere."
However, despite Washington's calls, the South American country allowed the ships to dock in Rio after Lula ended his trip.
The United States has been very upset with the presence of the Iranian warships on Brazilian shores and elsewhere in Latin America, which Washington considers its backyard.
Dena is a Mowj-class warship that joined the Iranian Navy in June 2021. The military vessel is reportedly equipped with anti-ship cruise missiles, torpedoes, and naval cannons.

Makran is a forward base ship weighing 121,000 tonnes. The warship can carry five helicopters and is used to provide logistical support for combat vessels.

The 86th flotilla is expected to break the record for the distance an Iranian flotilla has ever sailed in international waters. It set sail from southern Iran in early fall with the purpose of circumnavigating the world.
Its trip to Brazil appears to be part of a mission that is destined to take the flotilla to the Panama Canal.
Earlier in January, Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani said plans were underway to deploy the Islamic Republic’s naval forces to the strategic Panama Canal, as Iranian servicemen were getting closer to South American coasts.

The commander stated that Iranian naval forces have been deployed to almost all strategic straits throughout the globe, except for two.
He said Iranian naval forces will sail into one of those remaining straits this year, while plans are being made for their presence in the Panama Canal, which connects the Atlantic Ocean with the Pacific Ocean and divides North and South Americas.

I don;t know. She was like 4 years old during the cultural revolution, it is a bit much calling youself a survivor (which she does in other interviews). Thought they mostly targeting Mao's rivials.
There were definitely regular people like professors and musicians targeted by the CR, either victims of jealous rivals or personal vendettas taking advantage of the chaos to settle scores. If they had children, they would definitely count as victims.

That being said, at that age, her parents were more likely to be Red Guards than victims

BRICS as an organization should make a statement about US foreign interference.

Not really.
I personally believe this is still about Taiwan.

The US knows that Taiwan would easily get crushed in a 1 on 1 with China.

So they are trying to set it up as China versus Taiwan + Phillipines + Japan + Australia + NATO support if this war should ever happen.
Also trying to make these countries patrol the nearby seas surrounding China regularly under the guise of "freedom of navigation"

The problem is that most Filipinos don't see it that way. They're trying to justify that their close sucking to their treaty ally the U.S. is just the manifestation made by China's unrelenting wanton aggressive actions in the South China Sea, especially on what the Philippines call West Phillipines Sea. Taiwan issue or angle isn't the play being used and utilized both by the American diplomats, NGOs, western led media both local and foreign which essentially culls desceive not to mention confuses the Filipino public who's main interest is their claim and what they rightfully view as their own piece of real estate in the SCS.

I agree.
Filipinos probably are being used without understanding all the issues involved.

I personally feel that, if a potential Taiwan war should happen in the future, the politics and set up of alliances before the war are potentially even more important than the war.
If possible, China's move should be to convince all these countries (Phillipines, Japan, Australia) to not involve themselves.

I feel that these issues will eventually be put to rest the moment when the USA, once eventually distracted from their issues and perhaps be put on a weak footing due to let’s say a critical situation such as the Ohio disaster becoming worse due to tornadoes or even another disaster that is bound to happen (due to how bad their infrastructure is and also due to natural disaster that are increasing year by year) and the USA demands China’s help and China saying get all of your bases out of our backyard or else and when the USA continues to antagonize China and when Russia is able to take Ukraine and then consistently put pressure on the east coast of the USA, China may strike at all these bases (China knows where they are) with such force and ferocity (I mean we should never look down on Chinas ability to act decisively and angrily when is the best possible position to do massive damage) that all the nations in South east Asia (yeah even Australia) will learn to back off for good. You can’t convince Japan, Australia and the Philippines until you make then physically see what China can really do when the gloves are off. The western media has done a good job in wiping the Korean War and Vietnam wars away from people memories and make China seem like a nation of weak pacifists but all it takes to completely shatter this facade is China shoving a DF missile the USA doesn’t want China shoving it
Because the USA has fool the world so long in regards to Chinas capabilities, even the USA is left in the dark as to what China can really do and really they should’ve known better

Eventually if the USA is in a weakened enough position, China, Russia, North Korea, Iran amongst others are like to take advantage of this to the extreme and ensure that no other US ally will be willing to out there necks out for a super power that is about to die while try proceed to demilitarize the USA but by bit. All I see if the USA right now trying to fight Russia, China, Iran and even North Korea and Saudi Arabia at the same time without a sensible game plan except outright terrorism. Anyone with logic will know that if the USA is struggling this hard against Russia (remember they know putting their soldiers there officially will mean nukes), trying to fight China and others at the same time is simply beyond stupid and that maybe, this time, the USA might end up suffering some long awaited consequences
