After the Cold War, the former eastern bloc hoped to become industrialised from western investment but that didn’t happen.
There is alot of transfer payments to budget happen to improve infrastructure and social well being in Eastern EU but fundamental problem was demographic decline, easy emigration and over burden governance model that make things very uncompetitive. same thing happened with Turkey. This East Asian success is from one party system without much external interference.

Then explain why US-China trade is hitting record highs in 2022?

Hint: Biden isn't enforcing the tariffs.

This more of inflation impact over past 6 years if take Trump as starting point.

'Emperor Mao' did better in Korea against even stronger enemy right after consolidate the country how do you explain that?
He's just that good. He's still just a man and is therefore flawed and makes mistakes, but when it comes to military strategy and geopolitics he's a giant of a man that comes along perhaps only once per millennia.

People might say he's a habitual gambler too willing to put his head and head of all his followers on the table going all in, but if every time he does that he comes away winning then he must be doing something right.

From the article"
“China has no interest in Russia losing in this war, and might in fact have a vested interest in this war going on in Ukraine as long as possible, because it does take up a large amount of equipment and armaments, particularly ammunition and then the increasing demands from Ukraine … for other equipment,”

Well yeah, it doesn't take a scientist to figure that out, the more conflicts u.s/nato involved outside of taiwan the better lol

also this a big hint the u.s is about to abandon ukraine soon

Obvious propaganda is comical in its delivery.

“The whole purpose of the international order that grew up after World War II was to make sure we wouldn’t have a World War III … and we often hear from Chinese colleagues or Russian colleagues in different ways that this is somehow invented in the West and they’re not a part of it,” Blinken said.

“The system, for all its imperfections, works, but now it’s being challenged, and some of these countries are trying to either destroy the rules – which Russia is doing in Ukraine – or trying to rewrite them in ways that are inimical to some of our own values and interests.”

So what you're saying is... The system doesn't work. Because if it was designed to prevent World War 3, and it's failing to prevent World War 3, then the obvious conclusion is that it's a bad system.

But no, the "system" is not to blame; it's the fact that certain countries are "challenging" it. Kind of like saying "our laws are great, it's just people don't follow them." Maybe, just maybe, there's a reason for that? It's a poor international order if every powerful country that isn't a satellite of the US doesn't want to follow it.

It is not so much important that US abandon ukraine but how Europe and Canada going to abandon Ukraine. they are far more attached to it. infact US support for Ukraine is advantageous to Russia as in exchange for that support US can squeeze Europe and Canada further.
Also the greater conflict in Europe. the more importance for Israel. why do you think only Israeli PM brought message of saving Zelinsky to Scholz?

To make it even worse, the US averages ~1700 train derailments a year. Shipping volatile and dangerous chemicals by rail when the rail infrastructure is falling apart and extremely accident prone is just asking for disasters to happen.

Unfortunately, Precision Railroading model adopted by North American railroad companies certainly does not inspire confidence that this type of accidents won't happen again. In fact, we just had 2 mainline derailments last week in our subdivision (about 400km of tracks). Thankfully none of the loads were hazardous. Cars that are unable to be re-railed is usually pulled off the tracks and into a ditch so that the traffic keeps moving.

Apparently the cause of this particular incident was an overheated bearing. Basically, the bearing assembly connects the individual wheel with the truck (boogie) of the railcar, and transfers the weight of the load to the rails through the truck. Each bearing assembly is a self contained unit, with the bearing itself submerged in lubricants. Thermal runaway occurs once the lubricants leak out of the bearing assembly, which will cause the bearing itself to disintegrate rapidly, causing the wheel to fail and the train to derail. Typically there are thermal cameras positioned along the railroad for detecting overheated bearings, but it's not completely unusual to see a carriage entering a yard with a bearing on fire. Hence why an inbound train must enter the yard under watch and the wheel assembly containing the overheated bearing must be replaced immediately if detected.

1700 derailments a year? What the actual fuck? Has the FBI looked into the company that repairs and replaces all the damaged and destroyed rolling-stock from all these derailments? Because I can see 1700 motives per year for them to want to actively sabotage US rail infrastructure.
Many of the derailments are very minor. For example, locomotive crew leaving the yard failed to notice that the merging rail switch ahead is lined away from its route and into the track next to them, resulting in the locomotive running the switch at 5 km/h. That's a derailment. The locomotive is inspected and returned to service and crew reprimanded.

Dioxins formed by burning vinyl chloride can travel long distances in the air and water. When dioxins settle in the soil, they stay there for decades as they break down very slowly. Dioxins also bioaccumulate in animals, meaning any livestock raised using feed from the affected regions will also have high risk.

The deliberate release and burning of vinyl chloride took place near the border of Ohio and Pennsylvania, in the watershed of the Ohio river, which feeds into the Mississippi river. So in terms of dispersal by water, the downstream states are Ohio, West Virginia, Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Louisiana. For dispersal by air, the downwind states are Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, and the New England states.

Agricultural products from these regions and animal products from livestock raised using feed from these regions should be carefully tested, tracked, and monitored for the next several decades to ensure their safety.
EPA had claimed the air at ground zero after 9/11 was "safe for human consumption" too.

Windy makes it easier to track where the chemical plume might end up.

I'm guessing seafood and imported meat is safe? I already told my family to avoid supermarkets and buy local.

Chinese pet owners have expressed concerns over pet food safety of American brands, following the serious Ohio chemical leak, as many of their frequently consume brands, such as Orijen and Acana, are headquartered in the neighboring state of Kentucky.

Another brand among those of highest concern is Blue Buffalo, whose headquarters is located in Indiana, west to Ohio.

A "map of American pet food brands" has been reposted frequently on China's Twitter-like Weibo, with more brands like RAWZ, Fromm, Instinct, Stella&Chewy's and Nutro marked in accordance with their headquarters' locations on a US map.

As the contamination could take weeks or potentially months to affect the locally sourced ingredients and the manufacturing process, some Chinese pet owners have already begun to stockpile supplies.

A Beijing-based cat owner, who went by the name Fanfan, told the Global Times on Wednesday that she just ordered three 5.4-kilogram bags of dry food in case the contamination would impact food safety in the future.

"I have read all sorts of media reports, some said it's 'Chernobyl 2.0' while others claimed local environment is within normal scope…But I don't want to take the risk," Fanfan said.

Fanfan is accustomed to feeding her cat Orijen, but she has decided to do some research on European brands. Some also started to consider domestic Chinese brands.

The Global Times tried to contact Orijen and Acana, but they failed to respond as of time of press.

According to a report released by e-commerce giant Tmall early in January 2023, China's consumption of imported pet food increased by 25 percent annually from 2016-21.

The pet economy volume in 2022 was estimated to top 494 billion yuan ($67.4 billion) and more than half of that was pet food.

Of more than 300 foreign companies that are permitted to export pet food to China, 80 are from the US, customs data shows.

The aftermath of an Ohio train derailment incident on February 3, which resulted in toxic chemicals being released into the environment, has left the local community reeling.

Fifty of the 150 cars veered off the tracks after the derailment with Vinyl chloride slowly released into the air from five of those cars before crews ignited the leak to extinguish the highly flammable, toxic chemicals "in a controlled environment."

Local residents were first ordered to leave, but allowed to return on February 8 after authorities claimed real-time air and water monitoring did not find any contaminant levels above screening limits.

However, community fears and concerns have not been dispelled. Many residents living near the affected area took to social media to report unusual and concerning symptoms presenting in the wake of the incident.

That’s some top tier trolling by GT! If others won’t even feed American food products to their dogs now due to this man made calamity that could poison US produced foods for decades to come, do you really want to feed that shit to your children?

How to call for a boycott without calling for a boycott.
