Blinken to test limits of China’s diplomatic engagement on Feb. 5-6 Beijing trip

Liu He meeting Yellen today, Blinken meeting Qin Gang on Feb 5, it seems like a leadup for a China visit for Biden later this year. I'm guessing Biden will try to offer some ultimatum to China about bailing out the US and letting Taiwan reunite deal, something which isn't to be expected to be covered by Blinken's upcoming trip.
It is important to keep speaking with them, so that the nationalist faction in US doesn't convince them all that they are in an use it or lose it situation.

At the end of the day they are a nuclear power as well, so trying to back them into a corner is no good.

China should be ready to provide token concessions in economy in order to help America land softly. It is in no one's interest if they blow up in a too violent way.

Blinken to test limits of China’s diplomatic engagement on Feb. 5-6 Beijing trip

My prediction is Biden will try to offer some ultimatum to China about bailing out the US and letting Taiwan reunite deal, something which isn't to be expected to be covered by Blinken's upcoming trip. Assuming Xi doesn't take the deal, we could be looking at a very explosive 2024.
Why should Biden even offer a reunification of Taiwan with China? Taiwan is the absolute perfect best trump card that the US could ever have in order to stun China's growth. Washington DC just need a to make a phone call to Taipei and instructs English Vegetable (or her more extremist successor) to officially declare the independence of Taiwan from China for that to happen.

The US could then lead the West in providing moral support for Taiwan (and slamming sanctions on China), while having buckets of popcorn ready to watch the show goes down from the side.

Throwing away that trump card would also mean:
1. Permanently opening the floodgate on the First Island Chain that is stopping PLAN from roaming the Pacific freely;
2. Effectively weakening the US position in the Westpac, essentially throwing away the Westpac to China and Russia; and
3. Political suicide for Biden and the Democrat Party.

So, no - Until PLAN CSGs are sailing outside of New York City, nobody in the US would ever consider giving up Taiwan to China for free.

With the situation in Vietnam, all the people they got rid of studied in the west, all the people that are replacing them studied either domestically or in the Soviet Union.

Seems to me like the northern crew are very worried at the southern crew getting to much power and getting to cosy with the US. It's not necessarily that the northern people are pro-China, it's just for their own survival they initiated this purge after consulting with their "Comrade plus Brother".

Lmao. What a "peace lover".

China too can do the same by collapsing the mountain valleys on both sides of the Yarlung Zangpo river and blocking the river entirely from flowing into India, instead of just partially with the dam. Then, China can excavate alternate paths through the mountain ranges for Yarlung Zangbo to divert to other waterways that flow deeper into China.

Besides, we already know where those nuclear-tipped Dongfengs are going to have huge parties at, as soon as those Jai Hinds fire nukes at China.

Vietnam may have once raised armies against both China and US, but only one of those enemies used genocide, chemical weapons and rape as tools of war. Only one of those conducted torture on Vietnamese prisoners and sought to perpetuate a racist occupation state.

China has made sufficient amends for its role in supporting the American anti soviet effort in Asia, including Cambodia.

Time for Vietnam to return home.

Consider that Vietnam got partitioned into North Vietnam and South Vietnam in 1954 and reunited in 1975 - That's a 21 years-worth of separation.

As we have seen, 21 years of separation is more than enough to leave deep imprints of pro-US elements which are embedded within the society and government of Vietnam that is hard to get rid of, even as the Socialist Reublic of Vietnam is approaching 50 years old since the Fall of Saigon.

Meanwhile, China and Taiwan is still not reunified after more than 73 years. That means China has sh1t loads of difficult jobs to do WRT the population on the island in order to reintegrate them with the mainlanders, once everything has been settled down...

This is quite sad. A Quora post. The authenticity is debatable but I don't see any reasons why anyone would lie like this. It also indicates that the massive casualty numbers we hear for Ukraine are true. A single person knowing 5 KIAs is a lot.

"A tragic fact. I’ve lost all my frontline contacts in the UAF. They’re all KIA now. There were five of them. The last was killed two days ago. I met the five via my Facebook account. There were sixty or so Ukrainians in my friends list before the war started. Two of the five were musicians, two were engineers, and one owned a small business. None were over the age of forty and three were in their twenties. All were from Kyiv. When the war started their reserve units were called up. They went eager to defend their homeland. Not one expressed fear or doubt.

I got to know these men and their families well. I video conferenced with them on a weekly basis. The men were certain they’d return home after defeating the Russians. The wives were terrified they wouldn’t. Now there’s five more shattered families in Ukraine. Five more widows with children to raise.

One of the wives, Andrea, asked me repeatedly, “Why?” I didn’t dare answer. No answer would suffice. I just listened until she’d cried herself out. But she’ll eventually be willing to hear her husband died a hero fighting for his country. They all died heroes.

Goddamn that evil little bastard Putin. Between Ukrainian and Russian widows there’s enough tears to fill the seas. I pray he meets his end soon."

So the Von Der Lying's Freudian Slip about 100 thousand KIAs in her speech (which got deleted later) among the rank-and-file of the AFU is pretty much close to reality on the ground.

Perhaps the number could have been even higher, assuming that Ukraine didn't report the full scale of casualties that the AFU has suffered.
