And now the Confucius Institutes are being shut down.. while Genshin Impact has made billions worldwide.

TBH, I don't get why some users are nitpicking Genshin Impact so much.

Is the game 100% perfect representation of Chinese culture? No, it's not. There are some areas where it can improve on.
But considering how China doesn't have a lot of entertainment product that's as popular worldwide. I'll definitely take this for the time being. Mihoyo's success is helping to lay the foundation for other Chinese game developers to enter the market. In time there will be Wu Kong Black Myth and Tencent's Wuxia game.

Majority of gamers in China love GI so it's kinda strange to see some of the critical comments here. Even CCTV (China's state media) put up an ad for Yunjin (one of the characters in GI who's based on Beijing Opera).
Because Confucius Institutes are actually viewed as a threat by the West. Notice how even India did not ban Genshin despite having banned a host of other Chinese apps and games, what does that suggest about how Genshin is viewed?

Yes... the one threatening western interests gets shut down, while the one that gets western approval gets to stay around, how is that surprising at this point? You must have also missed when westerners were making fun of yunjin's singing, comparing it to a cat dying. I'm also not nitpicking; I'm straight up pointing out why I dislike it. We don't have to like everything that comes out of China.

Another report,

Nvidia is scheduled to report those results on Nov. 17.

Until it can determine whether or not fabricating Biren designs violates U.S. restrictions, TSMC has halted all work on Biren products, according to Bloomberg, citing an unidentified person close to the matter. Nvidia shares closed up 1.1% at $125.99.

This reminded me of the story where that little girl from I-raq was testifying before the American politicians committee. After Iraq had invaded Kuwait.

She was crying, and one thing she said, that when Iraqi soldiers came to the hospital in Kuwait, they threw out the babies in those baby incubators and took the 16 incubators with them, leaving the babies on the floor to die.

There were several problems with that story. Including the fact that Iraq had no baby incubators. But the US politicians believed that story from that little Arab girl anyways.

So ... later on ... much later ... some nosy American report got an idea. No one knew who that crying Arab girl really was.

The reporter phoned the Kuwaiti embassy in the United States. The receptionist answered.

The reporter simply asked, "Can you confirm that girl was the Kuwaiti ambassador's daughter?" The US reporter had no proof, he was just fishing.

The receptionist panicked, and blurted out, "How did you find out!?"

Thereby confirming that crying Arab girl was all a bs act.

In this case, whether TSMC will fab a chip for China, the US knows shit, and wants Bloomberg to fish it out.

:D

Decoupling is real and inevitable.

Fun fact. In one of Hitler’s office were various pictures of his close allies and friends. Some of these pictures were prominent American businessmen such as Henry Ford and GM CEO James Mooney

A bunch of American companies like IBM and Coca Cola also had large investments in Germany in the 1930s, and a number of them invested more heavily in Germany after Hitler came to power.

Many continued to export to Germany right up to the start of WWII. GM for example supplied parts to the Luftwaffe.

Chinese soft power is horrible because they fundamentally don't understand what they are doing at all. They don't understand how completely stupid and brainwashed they appear to the planet.

Look at the wonderful representation of blonde haired blue eyed Chinese people living in a truly Chinese setting complete with medieval castles and Dutch windmills and Christian crosses. Not one person in China looks like this. Everyone laughs and exploits Chinese people's obvious white worship and self hate. The same can be said of other East Asians. Just look at the rampant white worship in Japanese games.

BlackMyth-1.jpg

While Marvel studios dominates the planet with their white man worship led by masculine lead men like Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans, we have morons celebrating rep by an ugly monkey man that no woman would ever lust after.

When Chinese people are not worshipping Caucasian features or cheering on a monkey man they are promoting girly effeminate idols that the government has called a sissy pants epidemic.

China's enemies cannot be happier with the complete total incompetence of Chinese soft power.

Ok, I'm getting the vibe that I'm talking to the same poster with multiple accounts lol..

Western govts usually don't ban games. IIRC, don't think any high profile Chinese game was banned in the past.
Whereas when it comes to NGO, western govts have used them to spy on foreign govts so they're paranoid China is doing the same. Hence, Confucius Institutes are targeted in the west.

As for some of the criticisms directed at Genshin Impact, it's alright. Like the saying goes, "you can't please everyone". Millions of gamers in China and abroad are enjoying the game (myself included) so good enough..

Regarding Yunjin's singing, Mihoyo put in a lot of effort hiring a real Beijing Opera singer to sing the lyrics. They are really trying their best here. Some westerners disliking the song doesn't detract from the Chinese fans that do like it and see it as a good representation.

Don't throw the baby out with the bath water..

Never said you couldn't enjoy the game, just that I didn't agree with what you said. I just don't like the game, no need to accuse me of being a bot, c'mon.

Yeah, definitely no way more than one guy can have the same opinion. I don't agree with the way you dragged the Confucius institute in the mud and compared it to a fucking....gambling simulator.
