So I'm guessing in a few weeks time:
China "Hey EU, you look a bit cold, would you like to buy some mystery coal from me at very modest prices?"
Chinese spox trolling the europeans

Europeans better ask themselves if an anglo led world order still benefits them, and if not, utilise their tradition of deposing compromised Vichy leaders
That's not trolling, that's called 雪中送炭

The Hoover Project on China’s Global Sharp Power and the Stanford Center for International Security and Cooperation held a talk titled Danger Zone: The Coming Conflict with China on Friday, October 7, 2022

IMHO, It is more of the same neoconservative/neoliberal (far-right) and white supremacist drivel. These American Alfred Rosenbergs repeat the same ideologically driven talking points (i.e. Democracy vs. Autocracy, etc. ) over and over again. These supremacist imperialist nutjobs along with their heinous ideology belong in the bust bin of history.

Don't become Jai Hinds. Pro-China doesn't mean anti-science.
So what? Plenty of papers sponsored by the US regime to deflect blame. If you lived in the 1950s, would you defend cigarettes as healthy just because some "scientists" got paid to write articles about it?

And there are many of these findings from all sorts of sources.

Let me make it simple for you: if you find an animal in March 2019 in Spain, and then find the animal in December same year in China, in a transportation hub, where a large number of foreigners were travelling, then what continent do you think the animal is native to? A virus is no different from any other animal. You may as well claim cats come from Australia.

The burden of proof is on the west who has the fantastical claim something found a few months ago and only later was found in China actually came from China... Meaning China had 8 months of rampant Covid yet nobody knew???

You think that’s bad. Just look at the estimate for the date of completion.
The Californian HSR is literally the biggest facepalm I have ever seen in the HSR world.

By the time the US finally finished their California HSR construction project, I bet China would have completed upgrading most of her HSR network from tracked to maglev.

Man, sometimes I think that the US should just be humble, be polite and ask China nicely for help...

Sounds like a typical Clan Association (会馆) like the kinds we have in South East Asia which are also organised along regional/dialect lines. Clan associations focus on helping immigrants find their footing in foreign lands and maintain links with home.

They should have just called it as such ...

I wonder if this is due to the high number of scammers targeting overseas Chinese. By having an official “police” association, this is more traceable.

Chinese helped America build the railroad before, it turned out well enough, why not try it again!

Jokes aside, the US might be headed for a time of austerity, so if the rail project is shelved, all this money just got flushed down the toilet with very little benefit besides jobs. How can something so important be handled in such an incompetent fashion?

There’s a cross town metro being built in Toronto. Its construction is slow as crap and caused many businesses to shut down. But at least there’s trains, like for sure it will open in the next 5 years after being 3 years late already (not to mention 10 years overdue).

Asking China won’t do anything. This issue was never about construction. It was the corruption of politicians and the greed of the wealthy elites that ruined the railway from day 1 and continue to ruin it to this day.

Engineers gave California the best route and corridor for the railway however politicians and wealthy elites who controlled the project pitched in their own demands (and unsurprisingly was approved) to ensure the project gave them benefits as well.

But political concerns were lurking in the background. Mike Antonovich, a powerful member of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors

The horse-trading in this case involved an influential land developer and major campaign contributor from Los Angeles, Jerry Epstein.

Mr. Epstein was also a member of the rail authority board, and he became a strong backer of Mr. Antonovich’s proposal for a Mojave Desert diversion on the bullet train.

“The Palmdale route was borne of a deal between Epstein and Antonovich, absolutely,” said Art Bauer, the chief staff member on the State Senate Transportation Committee, speaking publicly on the matter for the first time.

“If I get my lease, you get my vote was the deal,” Mr. Bauer said. Though Mr. Epstein was only one member of the board, his lobbying of other board members proved critical, he said. “Epstein got the votes. The staff didn’t get the votes. The staff didn’t want to go that way.”
But it has presented a complex engineering challenge, requiring 38 miles of tunnels and 16 miles of elevated structures, according to environmental reports.

The rail route “was not based on technical and financial criteria,” Mr. Ikhrata said.

And the latest expansion and delays are coming from the powerful corporations of Silicon Valley.

There was heavy lobbying by Silicon Valley business interests and the city of San Jose, which saw the line as an economic boon and a link to lower cost housing in the Central Valley for tech employees. They argued for routing the train over the much higher Pacheco Pass — which would require 15 miles of expensive tunnels.

“It absolutely has to go through Pacheco and up through San Jose,” Mr. Richards said.

McDonald's adds adult Happy Meals to the menu. Yes, you get a toy.

Well, now you can revisit that feeling as an adult. Today (Oct. 4), McDonald's announced a new menu item: a Happy Meal for adults. OK, so it's not technically called an adult Happy Meal but is absolutely an adult Happy Meal. It has a toy and everything.

There's also merch, like hoodies, sweatshirts, and t-shirts for sale. If you order one of the boxes through the app, you'll automatically get entered in a merch giveaway.

Imagine if they tried this 30 years ago. They would be the laughing stock of the decade.
