in 2022) with foreign equipment. In terms of domestic semiconductor equipment the situation is even worse, Russia basically cannot produce most things in the chain even for older tech nodes - e.g. Russian government gave a grant to create 350 nm lithographic machine by 2025 plus a few grants towards etching equipment, photomasks, etc.
The more I think about this the more I believe Russia to be the perfect dumping ground for China's nascent semiconductor industry. The west certainly isn't going to sell them lithography machines or etching equipment.

South Koreans harbor a deep inferiority complex stemming from their rich history of being crushed by a larger power.

<1900: Chinese tributary state / Chinese province
1900 - 1945: Japanese colony
1945 - present: US military base

I wouldn't put too much weight on their comments. These are the ravings of a slave country and slave people, who are only performing their natural function in serving their current overlord's directives (US). As China displaces the US as hegemon, expect SK to return to its original and rightful position as model tributary state.
No wonder their similarity to another neighbour

It is people like him that kept Russia in an unnecessarily low state technology.

Why is Russia behind in UCAVs in 2022? Because of people like him thinking that Russia doesn't need to import or license drones from 'lesser' countries.

Why is the Russian navy is struggling to rebuild itself? Because Russia is too powerful to import ships from 'lesser' nations. Russia could only import from 'superior' Europeans, who continuously betrayed them.

Russia won't build hightech civilian industries in collaboration with China or other Asian countries. Because people like him want Russia to be in the position of leadership, not an equal or lesser partner. Except when working with Westerners off course.

Russia is a powerful country. But it needs to take a step back from the superpower hegemon game. It is not the West and cannot directly compete with the West. But it cannot treat it's Asian neighbors as lesser people. Then later ask them for help when the West betrays Russia yet again. They need to wake up from this is a type of Russian-style white supremacy now.

350 nm isn't so bad if you get the cost down substantially. I understand that in Russia getting cost down for anything industrial is harder than anything, but for this they need to at least try. you don't need too much precision for stuff like power management chips, sensors and analog chips which is what Russia actually needs unless they want to actually start stripping washing machines for chips in the future.

There's some very novel lower price old node (but brand new tech) machines coming out. See EVGs machine which substitutes UV LEDs instead of using old school mercury lamps.

But of course Russian government needs to understand, not just hear but truly understand, that they're behind in some things and need to catch up in ways they can manage.
