The art thief is subjected to Chinese extradition request in any country that has an agreement with China if the person refuse to comply. Any auction house or potential buyer would be criminal and subjected to the same threat of arrest and extradition if they attempt to "buy".

Essentially, the person is holding a valuable thing with zero value to himself plus being a criminal fugitive in many countries. I don't think he has any better choice than complying to the court order.
He's just an art collector. The thief was the person hired by the art dealer in Hong Kong to rob a rural temple in China, but there's been no news of the dealer getting in any trouble. He must be well-connected to CCP.

US administration explains how soaring gas prices are actually ‘a benefit’

The transportation secretary says the more "pain" Americans feel at the pump, the more beneficial it is to own an electric vehicle

Soaring gas prices in the US are a “benefit” to owners of electric vehicles(EV), Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said while testifying before a House committee on Tuesday.

Buttigieg suggested that people who are currently struggling to pay over $5 per gallon of gas could offset their “pain” by purchasing an EV instead, the average price of which is over $65,000 according to automotive research company Kelly Blue Book.

“The more pain we are all experiencing from the high price of gas, the more benefit there is for those who can access electric vehicles,” the Biden administration official said before asking Republican Representative Carlos Gimenez (Florida) to subsidize EV purchases with tax credits.

It’s funny how the Democrats keep proving all the theories those MAGA right wing keep conjuring up lmao.

I really do wonder how much of a shit the Biden Admin cares about high gas prices when they have a green agenda to push. The inability to balance the economy and the green agenda is the biggest reason why progress in fighting it has stalled over mistrust.

The Pelosi trip is an obvious trap, just like the “guardrails”, and the US will have gamed various Chinese responses and have escalatory replies ready.

America wants to go now, China wants to postpone.

Do you think China is stupid enough to fall for this trap? Or, Do you think Xi is ruled by emotions and will rise to provocation?

Best response from China is one which turns the tables on the US, just like they did with the guardrails.

My suggestion is that they don’t do much.
China rejected the guardrails though. That is a counter escalation, not a descalation. There will be a further counter escalation proportionate to the initial provocation.

US and Canada launch trade dispute with Mexico over clean energy

López Obrador dismisses concerns that nationalist policies fail to meet USMCA obligations
The US and Canada are seeking trade dispute talks with Mexico over the country’s nationalist energy policies, which they argue have undermined international companies investing in clean energy. Washington accused Mexico of failing to meet its obligations under the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) by favouring state-run utility Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) and oil company Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex).
This came at the expense of US and other private firms that have poured billions of dollars over the past decade into the clean energy sector in Mexico, it said.

Mexico president Andrés Manuel López Obrador made light of the US’s complaint at his morning press conference by saying “nothing is going to happen.” He then played a song from Mexican artist Chico Che with the title: “Oh, how scary!”
“It seems like the United States government is revealing itself to us and we are answering: they are supporting corruption,” López Obrador said.
