China spent $18.9 billion on Russian oil, gas and coal in the three months to the end of May, almost double the amount a year earlier, latest customs data show. Meanwhile, India shelled out $5.1 billion in the same period, more than five times the value of a year ago. That’s an extra $13 billion in revenue from both countries compared to the same months in 2021.

The one thing you should never do is mess with farmers. Many kings, emperors throughout history have learnt that lesson the hard way.

It's hilarious that they're blaming climate change for their attack on farmers. The effects of nitrogen on the environment has been known about decades, they're only starting to do something about it now?

Agriculture in the west is heavily subsidised. It makes no sense to grow a lot of the crops in western Europe when you can buy it for next to nothing from countries that pay its workers a dollar a day. Before anyone mentions the fact that agriculture is mechanised, in western Europe a lot of still isn't. You still have thousands of strawberry pickers.

The existing deficits and now the high price of fertilisers and energy means they can't afford to subsidise it any more.

Looks to me like this is the start of the fall of the west.

Farmers ended two millennia of dynastic rule in China.

Don't f*ck with the farmers.

Correction: farmers lead by intellectuals was responsible for overthrowing every dynasty in Chinese history.

Farmers who were not led by educated people were summarily crushed.
Zhu Chongba was a poor peasant tenant farmer before rising power to become an emperor. Of course, he received helps from the intelligent but many of his top lieutenants are just farmers or laborers.

Still don't know why they think they can force a price cap on Russia

They're still day-dreaming about stupid shit they wish they could do.

West: Let's cap the price of Russian gas! Then let's only pay it into an escrow account so the Russians can't get it unless they end the war! And then, after they end it, we'll release those funds only to the Ukrainians to "rebuild the country"! Muahahahaha
