You guys fought for a while over Zelensky and the Washington opinion article. Well we basically have a non official response.

Pathetic Washington Post fakes support to embolden Taiwan secessionists

is a cautious answer to the Taiwan question. In terms of selecting the words, Zelensky was much more prudent than many American politicians. Zelensky understands the issue concerns China's core interest and didn't fall for the trap set by Rogin.

never mind. There is an official response.

SMIC should open a 28nm fab there. Then try to go for one with ASML EUV.
Singapore's Defense Minister got a bit too defensive on his response to a PLA General officer's question with respect to the utility of the Shangri-la forum where according to the General is nothing but another western dominated table talk, western dominated arguments and has pushed or highlighted differences rather than fostering common interests.

Defense minister: You don't like it, well, you're free to leave or not to attend, it's your call. Paraphrasing his response.

My opinion: it seems that this old toad is more than happy when China and the PLA are attacked, maligned by incendiary questions that are of no value yet when a question is being raised by a Chinese General officer no less, the toad is rather indignant. Like how dare you. What a true white slave monkey that man is.

Let’s see if this defense ministers shares the same fate as his German counterpart.

By the way, as the Singapore economy was described earlier, and it’s dependencies, it seems to me that the perfect partner with which to work with would China.

China could supply a Singapore Oil company. Or the technology to avoid the paying of royalties and licenses.

Could Singapore be the real Strategic Surprise of 2022?

Russia Could Shut Down Huge Chunk of US Power Grid in One Move, Report Warns
Yeah this is one big blow Russia could take on the US. Cutting nuclear fuel exports. They say half of the nuclear fuel is imported from Russia, but it goes way beyond that, since even the fuel enriched in other countries often uses Uranium from Kazakhstan. And Russia can blockade Kazakh exports if they wanted to. Just look at a map. They can interdict uranium shipments via either their own territory or the Caspian Sea.
Since 20% of the US electricity supply comes from nuclear power this would be 10% or more loss in energy generation. The US would have to burn natural gas to replace that generation, and with current high natural gas prices, it would spike their energy prices and global natural gas price higher.

It might take 4 years or more to build extra uranium enrichment capacity. And good luck getting operational mines to replace the Kazakh ones in less than 8 years.

Rosatom would be against it, since they have a lot of deals with the global nuclear industry, they used to import the control electronics from Europe. And the steam turbines in most of the international nuclear reactor projects they are presently building come from Europe as well. The control electronics came from Siemens, and the turbines from GE, but now it is part of Alstom again. However the Russian government is the one with decision power here. Not Rosatom. And the fact is, if the West blocks those components to the international projects they wouldn't just be pissing off the Russians, but those countries too, and a lot of those projects are already in advanced stage of development. For the other projects, the Russians do have their own steam turbine designs, they are used in the Leningrad II and Kursk II reactors. Built by Power Machines. A company under sanctions.

This article is about the sanctions which were related to licensed Siemens gas turbines. Not steam turbines for nuclear reactors. But helps see the nature of US sanctions. A JV owned by Siemens (65%) and Power Machines (35%). Siemens doesn't get sanctioned by the US, but Power Machines does. Why? To minimize blowback to the US itself.

These steam turbines might be hard to retrofit to existing projects and existing capacity might be insufficient to deliver projects on time. But it wouldn't be insurmountable.

As always, the US enjoys picking and choosing their sanctions targets to their own benefit, so I think Russia should stop selling nuclear fuel to the West and give them a dose of their own medicine. Fuel rods for their own reactor designs would continue being supplied.

This is why I hate how Beijing thinks. The US doesn't care. If it serves their interest, they will do it regardless of any negative consequences. Beijing's tempered warnings only tell the US they should do it because anything China doesn't want to see happen has to be good for the US so they will do it. Or look at how some Chinese officials, business leaders and academia profess Chinese weakness in certain fields when the West gets alarmed by China's progress as if they think it will get China sympathy when all it'll do is encourage them to do it more.

There's something with Asians where they want to come across as civilized like how some use the high road versus low road perception. The thing is when you think you're taking the high road, it also means you're saying the others are taking the low road. You're coming across as a snob. I also come across Asians who will choose another path on to handle racism as opposed to how others have traditionally handled it. Asians don't want to be confrontational. They think they can convince racists to like them by not being confrontational. It comes across as an act of self-interest and selfishness when being not on the same page. Look at why Asians in the US can't unite. A large part of Asians in the US are immigrants and immigrants bring the nationalism to the US. Asians can't get it together because there will always be one that will take advantage and see it as an opportunity to suck-up and advance themselves to the white majority. That's what other groups see when Asians think they'll do it differently.

There was a popular reality show on US TV. It wasn't one of those competition shows. It was one of those that followed the lives of the cast members. There was some controversy when it was discovered that when one of them years earlier before fame on TV made a racist comment on Twitter. He said every time he sees an Asian, he just wants to punch them in the face. At the time the show's producer made no comment when that was exposed. But then to the run up to show's season finale was when the George Floyd murder happened he was fired from the show and only after a couple other cast members were also fired immediately when it was discovered they made racist comments of an African-American fellow cast member.

This guy who wants to punch the face of every Asian he sees is not uncommon. Asians have the teacher's pet mentality. They don't care about anyone else just as long as they're look upon as the favorite by the teacher. That's why it's universal that everyone hates the teacher's pet. They don't care if the one they're sucking up to looks at them as less just as long as they're seen as better than everyone else. That pretty much nails Asian nationalism. And look at how one person like Gordan Chang can confirm everything what the West wants to believe. You don't think Gordan Chang sole motivation in what he does is to feel superior to all other Chinese? Don't you want to punch Gordan Chang in the face?

Beijing thinks how it can frame problems where it will affect everyone can sway the US. No, you only concentrate how it'll affect the US. Americans think they're stronger. China thinks the US is stronger. Americans think they will come out better off than everyone else so appealing to those that have no sympathy nor empathy on how it'll hurt you doesn't make them change course. They're more likely try to do it even more because you admit they have power over you.

US/Western mistakes are a bountiful harvest. But China chooses not to exploit it like how the West does it to China because they want to come across as taking the high road. And the West will continue their narrative that they've been successful because no one is embarrassing them on how they got it wrong. Do you see the West giving kudos to China for not?

They are mostly talking to non western countries, basically signalling to them to not fall for the US lies and ideas about alliances and the likes.

To the US, Beijing has, even publically now, signalled that they are ready and also not afraid to fight the US over Taiwan.
